Clear trichomes does not turn milky but amber

Hey guys,

I am growing a Northern Light Auto for 16 weeks, 10 weeks since flowering.

I am happy with the plant and looking for harvest time. I have just checked the trichomes I would say %90 of them are still clear but %10 started to become amber...

I was knowing that they first need to go milky before amber. But really I don't see any...

You know to be completely %100 Oprah honest with you trichomes are only part of the puzzle and age differently in different areas of the plant. They can also have color variations that are outside the clear, milky, amber spectrum that can make it difficult to judge at times. Good rule of thumb, clear isn't what you want. Wait for milkiness to come on and then watch for the buds to swell, once they swell amber will be the natural course of things. This process of ripening is really what you're going for.

Don't trip on the trichomes.
Can't really seem them close enough to judge, but from the overall appearance of your buds they look really good.

You want your buds to look similar to this.

very few white pistils, buds look swollen, taking on an overall darker appearance. Then start to check trichomes. Picture taken 20mins ago

Some strains might not look milky. I read a ISO certified lab analysis in a strain description on a strain from Ace Seeds, Malawi strain I think. It described the trichomes in the sample as more clear ones than cloudy ones with a few ambers but still hit 24.5% THC in the lab.

I have no idea what the lab was actually looking at though, i.e., was it just the trichomes on the calyxes where you should be looking or the entire bud.

personally I very rarely check Trichomes any more. When you’ve taken a plant long into flowering and realised it’s hard to over flower a plant you just let it ride and watch for the above signs lol.

I know I’ve got around 7-10 days on that plant.

For reference I harvested the plant in the pictures yesterday.
