Cobs, strips, or quantum boards?

A QB96 is 4 screws and $50. I hope the choice as to which lights to purchase doesn't come down to a $32 difference in possible future repair.
I use the Chinese chips. Three grows and two started to die. Dead chips in the middle moving outwards.

That's because I was using 120mm heat sinks with 54volt chips. Things happen. Now all the sinks are 133mm.

I had to pay $200 bucks for that education. Which is ok because my shit is custom.

All boards can be repaired and individual bulbs replaced with basic soldering tools and correct parts. Detailed but really easy. Drivers are open a couple wagos, remove faulty one, insert new and snap connector closed.

I suggest COB's with IR until you get them to potential. Quantums can be massive issues until understood

Yeah...

Where in hell are you gonna get a led for a board? Same spec, direct replacement?

Online. Get manufacturer model number or type and specs. Every where. Cheap for the wait from Asia in bulk. Or pricey here. I repair blown mother boards and built custom light bars for RC vehicles. LOL. Exact same stuff. Capacitors and LED singles on my pc shelf. Come between two pieces of tape in strips.

Oh really.

So you're telling me you're gonna unsolder a tiny burnt led. Using tweezers to hold it. Re-solder a new one and not fuck up the board?

Ain't you too old for that shit? Because I am. I'd throw it in garbage. But I look at things on how repairable they are.

Screw a board.

Cheap stuff isn't always worth the cost savings is it?

If we're still talking about QB96's, I'd try here and search for Lumiled: https://americas.rsdelivers.com/

I am sorry you have no soldering experience. A bit more precise than your image. But yes. A few bucks and a half hour. Wish I had play money. LOL.

That's why you charge $20 -$60 a hour. $20 is what you get. $60 is what you want.
Honestly parts only. Son,mine, friends and others who can't afford a shyster with a magic soldering wand. Just frugal and I build or fix things. LOL.

So are they giving you the money for parts? Or are they giving you parts?

You know that don't work. It's $100 a labor hour for automatic thinking. They want "A" and you give them an "A".

$100.

Actual cost if not free when I have what they need. I am old school community values oriented. I'd be filthy rich if could lie and cheat. LMAO. The whole world isn't out to exploit you. Some look to never need to watch their backs. And favors are more valuable than dollars. LOL.

Peace.

I live in a low income town. People look at you funny if you'll for 'free'. Because they think it's some kind of hook.

Each man pays his way. You can't do it for free.

It is not for money. I get the satisfaction of a job well done. And an others favorable opinion if not a favor if ever needed.
