5,000+kw in 1bed apartment?

Im renting out an apartment with all the utilities included.( ik apartments arent ideal to grow in sry) The bedroom has been converted in a flowering area with 4 1000w lights on 240v, some fans and etc.. the walk in closet has around 1500ws for t5s and etc.
Also living in a legal area that literally reeks of weed 24-7, so smell has never been worrisome. Everything is electricaly sound as possible.

My only concern is the utilities are included in my rent. Ive been running this for a few months and never had any notice from the apartment that i have excess power consumption. I also have lived here over a year now and had running a smaller grow the whole time.
Do you guys think apartment buildings are checking my power usages because its included in rent? I must use at least 2-4x more electricity than other tenants

I wouldn't sweat it, a lot of people pump portable air conditioners and electric heaters depending on time of year, it's one or the other.

Most likely, the landlord only has one electric meter for the entire building, that is why the electric is included. There is no way to tell which tenant is using more or less electricity unless the units each have an electric meter.

No doubt, the bill might be higher than normal, but unless they inspect the room using all the electricity they have no way to tell who it is.

Fucking right it’s not.

I pay £160 a month for elec and gas and only run a 400w setup. lol.

without the 400w setup I pay around £130 a month.

I’d be rather careful apartments are monitored as individuals usually excessive power usage like that will flag the landlord and youll end paying the difference.

Ill just pray for the best and take it all out if they inspect my ass. Also i wouldnt say its free at all, i live in one of the most expensive places to live in the usa. 2200$ for 1 bedroom rent controlled apartment. Where i used to live thats a mortgage and a half on an okay home

Just stack up some money for if he kicks you out. Stay in plant count, I’m sure he will be by at some point, and fairly aggravated. I ran a similar setup and it took my power bill from 200 to 650 and that was in a small 3 bedroom house.
If your apartment only has the one meter for electric, you could be alright for a while. Have you had inspections before, is there something In the lease about notification of inspections? If your on the second floor be careful of floods, it happens to everyone growing at some point.

How many apartments on that one meter? Are you sure your electrical setup can safely run that many amps?

This place is barrrre minimum on everything imaginable, it wouldnt suprise me at all if they didnt want to pay more for a meter in every unit. Theyre a big complex and not on top of anything.

My best buddy here is an electrician and a grower. He’s just been through this with two investment properties this yo-yo owns. Exact same situation. Huge electric bill and 16 units. He wanted Randy to measure electric use for each apartment. Randy told him pay up or give it up.

Yeah... i honestly need to save up and move in a place thats cool with it alot of people are. This was just kinda the only way i couldve afforded to move so far out. My plant count is good too.
We have an inspection once a year and i just had mine. I took everything down, put it in my car, or in closets. Super quick and ironically they didnt even look in the grow room which was empty by then. My water is kept in several 5gal water jugs with lids to hopefully never spill anything. Once broke a 10 gal aqaurium and it rained through my old homes ceiling, never want that again.
Theres about 50 units just in this building, four buildings total.
The feed wire in my service panel is rated for 100amps. Secretly ran conduit and a subpanel to the room on a 60amp gcfi two pole breaker, over the ceiling by fishing it through the holes containing the fire alarms. When the inspection comes i safely disconnect everything and pop in a couple 15 amp breakers ran to nothing labeled lights and kitchen in the panel (so they wont notice ive added another breaker). The bulk of it is 240v so it only takes up like 17 amps on the sub. Alot of the little stuff is on a 20a breaker already ran to the bedroom

Well if your plant count is good your only worry would be finding another place if he figured it out. That’s a lot better than a lot of people that would get caught in other places not so friendly.

I find it kinda funny and amazing that you can run that in a 1 bedroom Apartment. I would do carbon filters for the smell cause even if you can smell a slight smell outside all the time it’s gonna be way stronger in your neighboring apartments andit would just be being a good neighbor. Hell when I worked there were several times I’d have to leave work and go change clothes, the smell permeates everything especially when drying.
