Need some wise led gurus

So I have a 480 watt Meiji 3ft away from 3 week old seedlings at about 1/4 or so strength and the growth just seems so slow my Lux meter reads about 1600 to the tops temps are around 80 leaf temp I can put them under a t5 and their always praying and get good growth so what’s everyone’s sweet spots with this kind of led

I run the same fixture in my 4x4 pheno tent.
I try to maintain about 20-24" headroom during the grow,
I run the fixture @ 50% power during the initial veg cycle and increase the power to 100% gradually over a week or two prior to flipping to flower.
Works really well for me.

I wouldn't fuck around with somebody's grow. Do what I said and report back after 48hrs. It'll teach you so much about growing under LED light

Well, when do you think they'll be 'big' enough for full sunlight?
I feel that once a seedling has developed a few true leaf sets, it's capable of handling normal lighting conditions.
I start seedlings or clones in my mother tent(about 5sq ft).
It has a single qb that I run @75w at 20" and they are completely happy with that lighting level and thrive.
IMO, those plants are more than ready to put the spurs to them.

I think you were just being overly conservative with the light you're giving them, which is GOOD, better too little than frying the poor dears. As the other fella said, you are good to give them 50% or so at 2 ft, just be careful and monitor them after each light increase, and after each time you lower the light. Watch them for light saturation-see how long after the lights come on that they stay looking "perky" and keep track of when they start to droop-that means they're saturated. This will give you an idea of when to increase the light they are getting. They might not need full light until they're good sized and roots have filled out-just be careful.

I believe "praying" is the reaction of wanting more light. I dont think plants that are receiving all the light they can handle pray. Someone correct me,please, if I'm wrong.

They pray outdoors in full sun. It always seemed to me that meant they were happy, but I have no science backing that

It's been my experience that that they pray when getting too much light or too hot/humid . . . we grew outdoors in Alabama way back when and when those 100F/95% days of July/August hit the girls would be praying for relief. Could have just been the heat and humidity though I suppose.

True, but the sun isn't at high noon 16 hours a day. It's all about DLI, or daily light integral.

Start with turning your extraction off altogether and letting it get hot and humid. See what happens. It'll take 2 days. Then mess around with other stuff.

Or do the other stuff first. Don't complicate it and make it hard to know what worked/works.

This is the best advice for growing in general. Only change one thing at a time.
