Safe to say I’ve been counting “bloom” wrong this whole time? When do you guys start counting bloom weeks as soon as 12/12 starts?
Soon as I go to 12/12. It's also easier to count that way instead of waiting for buds to pop. This way you will get an accurate day count and can expect that every time......................unless you mess with the time like I do. I like lowering the light schedule the last few weeks.

2-3 weeks after flip...at end of stretch.
I wouldn't think you've been counting "wrong" whichever way that may be. Everyone kinda does things their own way. Doesn't fucking matter and it's about as dumb an argument as anything else around here like pH'ing water with soil or germinating in paper towels. bongsmilie

I counted as soon as I put them in 12/12 but apparently some count after that like after the stretch I assume 1-3 weeks after 12/12

But at this point I just know how I need them to look so if their not where I want them to be at week whatever (if I miscounted lol I’m high as shit rn) then I’ll jus wait till I’m satisfied

This has been a really popular topic lately for some reason.
Counting from the flip is easy and consistent. However, many seed salescritters are under pressure to give their strains the shortest possible times to maturity. Those times generally are two or more weeks shorter than how long it takes to get a finished crop.

Counting from some later point, such as first appearance of flower structure, comes closer to the breeders’ rather optimistic flowering times. It strikes me as a dishonest practice. Giving the time from flip to chop allows growers to better plan their next flower-table generation.

if i were going to give someone a cut of one of my plants and advise them about how long it takes to mature, i would count the days from 12/12 as it is an objective date, rather than when someone perceives a flower has formed, which is subjective. having said that the information would be next to useless anyway.

And that's why most count from the flip.

Good rule of thumb, add 2-3 weeks to breeder times and you'll be close to "done".

so far, with variations, when I count from flip I find a pretty accurately advertised representation/finishing time of a strain (around 8-10 weeks). genetics/strain/pheno/morphology depending etc.

I find 7-10 days after flip I get flower onset, sometimes sooner like 5 days.

after about 21-28 days they stop their stretch phase (unless you're rocking 12+ week flowering strains id add a week to that, 14+ week or more might never stop her stretch just slow hehe)
