Can leaves get 'tired'?

Title is pretty much the question. Does anyone have any info on this? Can the chlorophyll in the plant get over worked and would the plant respond if that was the case?

LED lights have become very powerful and especially for how close we put them. Then on top of that they are in the same place day in and day out without really any reprieve, unlike outside where clouds can block out the sun. I dont know but it is something i have been wondering about. Thanks for the help everyone.

I wouldn’t say that they can “get tired” but there is a maximum amount of light they can absorb in a span of time. Leaves can also shy away from too much light which I have recently encountered with my 300 watt LED.

Well I know near the end of the day they start to point down in preparation of the sun down. I was curious if giving more more light then it needed might initiate that process sooner if it was over working itself. I turned my lights up recently and I happen to notice that the leaves seemed to point down sooner then they were before. This is purely anecdotal and was wondering if others might have noticed this as well or know of any studies down on it.

I suppose essentially i am wondering if there would be a physical response besides light burn from too high of a DLI.
