This is my second grow, slowley pickin up a few things here and there just started week 4 into flower. Got some egale claws happening so ran a flush encase she was to high with the nitrogen. Question is should i be thinning out my canopy to allow more light down through?20210330_223054.jpg20210330_223047.jpg20210329_192215.jpg

Looks good to me dude, how many plants total? Here is the best advice I've ever read (from the original marijuana growers bible): Trim your fan leaves just enough to allow air circulation, and light penetration to the lower canopy sites.

If you overdo the trimming now, you'll gimp your harvest, so less is more. Depending on your strain, you've got at least four to six more weeks until they are done, be careful if you trim anything, TRIM LESS. Without those fan leaves your plants will really struggle. You are in a critical phase right now, let it ride another week, see what happens, those secondary sites might break through, in which case don't trim anything. Patience is everything.

I won't claim to know everything, but I've tried some wild shit, long before growing weed was something popular, or even an industry.

The oldest advice is still the best PATIENCE, your plants will do their thing, you only need to nudge them here and there.

One plant, wow, good job on training! Since it's just one plant you want to really be conservative pruning at this point. There are a lot of differing opinions on pruning during budding. But the fact is, those fan leaves are providing ALL the energy to grow those buds. So you have to measure your risk/reward factor here. Do you show some favor to the tertiary buds, or the tops? Your tops look really good right now, excepting the claw deal, I wouldn't chance pruning right now.

The best time to prune in my experience is just before your buds start growing buds, if you know what I mean. And who says you have to harvest the whole plant at the same time? Nobody, those tertiary sites will probably continue to mature and grow once you take the tops, if you do things right. Again, here is patience rearing it's head, let those secondaries finish before you lop them off!

I wouldnt prune too much now. It looks like you're about to hit peak swell and shocking the plant now is a bad idea. Best time to remove fan leaves is day 21 so you recover for week 4 and 5 swelling. A few won't hurt if they are covering other budsites.

I noticed that if you defoliate too late the leaves won't really grow back, which makes monster cropping clones tough. The leaves also get so sticky that become a Charlie Chaplin type of physical comedy until you give up.

i like to do it week beg of week 2 so you habe a good understanding of what will be good and what will be larf. it also opens it up for some light to get in for the next weeks that are very important.
I think that's the point of doing on day one. Then on week three you're basically cleaning up the plants to let them ride out the rest of the cycle.
