Small Container Growing

My style of growing is a short veg flowering smaller plants than most. Because of that I grow plants in smaller containers than many.

These were some plants I started from seed for a friend that never came by to pick them up. They're still in the 2.5" x 2.5" x 3.5" in starter pots that hold about one cup of soil.

One is a BNG "Banger Night God". A cross between a Bruce Banger and a CBD God + Night Nurse. The other is PADPR "Panalis Afghani DPR". A cross of Panama / Ruderalis + Durbistan F3 crossed with an Afghani. Durbistan is Durban + Pakistani Chitral Kush. I haven't grown either but both of these are showing pistils so I'm going to transplant into 1.4 liter pots, toss them in the flower tent and see how they turn out. I'm quite surprised how healthy they are for being in such small pots. They're a little stretched but I basically neglected them. I'll stick a bamboo stake when I transplant them as I know they'll get top heavy when they flower and bend over. I don't plan on getting much yield but just a sampling. I have plenty more seeds. My friend was going to be the tester as I can't grow out all the crosses I've made. I have years of backlog. I guess that's a good problem to have.

Here's a couple Thaiwaiian "Thai+Hawaiian". They're just in 1.4 liter pots. I have grown this before and it's some really good smoke. Two distinct pheno's from that cross. One has a more stretched Thai like growth. The other is more squat. Both are delicious.

A Night Nurse I grew for a feminized seed run. A friend requested it for his outdoor grow this year and being the good buddy that I am I grew a Night Nurse, cloned it, reversed one and pollinated this one. 1.4 liter pot as well. Night Nurse is a pretty good yielder and it's potent as hell. Hence the name. I don't smoke it during the day.

It's also a heavy feeder. I fed hard especially since it was a seed plant but I couldn't stop the yellowing of the leaves. I'd rather have the leaves start yellowing late in flower than be burnt to a crisp from overfeeding.

I didn't intentionally pollinate this top. But pollen goes where it wants. The lower buds have quite a few seeds in them. I pollinated early so they're buried deep inside. Probably about 50-75 seeds.

I should get at least an ounce off of the Night Nurse. If I wasn't plant count limited I'd cram 64 plants in those 1.4 liter pots inside the tent. I think SOG is the biggest yielding method and it's the quickest as well.

I do this pretty often when I take clones. I'll toss a few of the extras on the window sill and next thing you know I've got a 2' plant busting out of this tiny cup.
Funny enough, I did a small SoG grow last year - half a tent to SoG and the other Scrog. I ended up running out of space and pots. I had some in 1.5gal pots I moved outside. I ended up forgetting about them till a week or two ago when I went to grab something out of the garage.

Some of those plants indoors yielded an ounce in 2.5 ish gal containers. I'm getting more and more tempted to give a true SoG a go.

Before I toss the plants in the compost I'll have to take some pics, it's pretty incredible.

What type of medium do you use normally for a SoG run? I run in promix and it can get to be a pain mixing up nutrients every few days. I'm leaning more towards easy these days.

Very nice plants. I keep mommies in small pots. I also keep a small "test plant" around that I subject to all manner of abuse-anytime I concoct a new foliar, test a dosage, etc, the test plant gets it. You've got some great stuff there!

Those are all growing in recycled soil I amended. I have been feeding them with VitaGrow.

If I was to do a full SOG run I'd probably use a capillary mat and coco.

Occasionally I’ll stuff this tent and do a SOG. 3 gallon bags and I can easily run 16. I don’t top. 30 days from seedling I flip. With a fixed light it’s usually perfect after stretch. Run something like Blue Dream and reap the reward.

I think I'll bury this one deep in a 5 gallon pot and grow it outside. I topped it to keep it from getting taller and Fuck I Missed. Now it has 4 tops.

Another BNG. This ones a male. It's making pollen sacs under 18/6. It's definitely mature and is ready to do it's thing. I'm going to let it go and collect the pollen to pollinate one of the tops on the female for more seeds.
