I'm looking to start makeing edible gummy bears. I have shatter to use. Can I just melt down pre existing gummy bears? And somehow add a shatter mixture into it and then put them in the gummy bear trey to set?

Shatter will work great. I've only made gummies once and I was super impressed. This recipe is super easy.

I just made gummies last week. If you have some Everclear then decarb your extract and make a tincture. Then cook down your tincture and mix it into the warm gummy mix (1 pack 6 oz. Jello, and 2g unflavored gelatin with 1/2 cup water) and distribute into gummy molds.

I have almost perfected my gummy process to achieve gummies with a texture similar to a store bought one.
One of the most important steps is heating your sugars up to the "softball" stage, which changes the consistency of the sugars into a very sticky sap that gives the gummies a more firm chewy texture instead of it just tasting like harder jello.
You cant heat it up too high either or you will end up making hard candy instead of gummies.

Can you share your recipe? I researched and followed different methods to no avail. It could be something in my process but I would love to try your recipe.

Thanks.

its a simple as getting a candy thermometer and heating your sugar or corn syrup to the soft ball stage. then you just mix everything into the syrup.

I was just looking for clarification on Gummies. Do you NEED to evaporate all the alcohol? I have the Magical Butter Machine and it makes great tincture(i go with 1 oz to 2 1/4 cups Everclear and run it at 130° for 8 hours). I've been wanting to try gummies and bought 2 10 mg trays and their custom gummie mix which you just add water to "cook" or ready the mix and than add the tincture which they list as FECO. I had wondered if that meant evaporation of the alcohol and just using the thicker leftover in the mix.
