Cleaning fabric pots

Ever heard of "dudding"?

HLV ain't no joke.

And I posted earlier in this thread that cleaning fabric pots didn't matter.

I was wrong.
I've never had any problems myself. Others might have different experiences. I keep things pretty spotless with my grows. So that plays a factor as far as potential pathogens. Knock on wood....

Where did this dickhead come from all of a sudden? I’ve reused mine repeatedly. I’m assuming someone really does have issues arising from this?

Sounds like you've got it under control. Little things like sterilizing scissors between plants makes a big difference.

Many people have no idea they have a pathogen.

Dudding is subtle and results in reduced yield and terps (smell/taste).
The weed still looks frosty and gets you baked.

But smoking to get high is like eating to feel full.
I prefer to enjoy the experience.

On the bright side, "dudded" weed is perfect for edibles.

We own a Speed Queen washer. That fucker can wash anything you can stuff in it no matter how dirty.
Absolutely, we own Speed Queen too. It’s a no brainer if looking to buy a washing machine. You are correct, it will wash anything you can stuff it with, and last your lifetime. They are industrial strength without a doubt.

“Tool sanitation is a must during all propagation, but not all disinfectants are created equal.

A 10% household bleach solution is the most effective way to prevent viroid and virus spread in your operation

There ya go, dickhead. Sterility was my fucking profession.

So what are you selling, boy? Got some magical shit for a pathogen 99.99% of hobby grower’s will never experience? The ignorance. It’s painful v

Thank you!
Excellent article.

I'm going to bust out some tubs today and clean a shitload of pots. (cloth & plastic)
Probably do a 4 step process.
  1. pre-rinse (hand rub)
  2. soap & water
  3. pool shock solution (similar to bleach)
  4. final rinse

I was a dialysis nurse. I’ll promise you bleach kills every damned thing. Guaranteed. Mix anything incorrectly and get unreliable results. But this is simple.

And how many of you have ACTUALLY had TMV on a plant? Virtually none of you. Same with this shit. You’re probably never going to see it or experience it.

I'm pretty positive I had it ravaging my zuke plant last year. Smoking sections were very near and garden was directly in the wind of cigg smoke from multiple sides.

I'm dealing with it now, and it actually explains a lot.
My previous crop was meh and I couldn't figure out why. Buds were frosty but smell and taste were disappointing.

Looking now to see if I can get some of my better plants tested. Many of them look fine.

Hot/cold cycles help suppress the viroid from what I've been reading, so outdoor plants might improve if there's a dramatic swing in day/night temperatures.

HLV also weakens plants, making them more susceptible to PM and bud rot.

Good luck out there...

Oops thought you meant HLV :dunce: :eyesmoke:

Possibly. However if half the RIU members posting about it had actually experienced it we’d damned sure know about. It happens. How often?

I'm sure a lot of people just have no clue what it is or looks like. I was one of those until I saw a post about it here ironically lol. I went out and looked and sure as shit it looked exactly like TMV. Those giant leaves on the zuke plant were blanketed with that mosaic pattern. It hardly produced anything. So its prob not often like you say but it could be more prevalent if people knew what they were looking at? Idk I think its a bit of both.

Leaf septoria. Nobody knew about it. Then one day someone discovered an article. With pictures. Suddenly every plant with yellowing spots were likely victims of leaf septoria. It is real and it happens. It just doesn’t happen as much as people suspect or claim.

I had sex this morning. My dick probably has germs.

Some of those germs are beneficial. Gross if you really think about it. Back in the day when kids played in the dirt they were exposed to all kinds of stuff. Building up immunity to many pathogens.

I remember when people would hear about the kid down the street with chicken pox or the mumps. People would expose their kids. Its nothing when Young but problematic later in life.
