On the one hand, more efficient lights mean lower energy costs for both the lights and climate control.Ahh k. Thought I read they were 180lm.
Yeah, luckily I live in the crappy midwest, so electric is cheap. 11.4 cents/kWh with no rate increase on higher usage.
One of the very few good things about my location.
We have corn too...
On the other hand, what you have is a lot better than HPS and it will suit your needs fine.
I look forward to seeing what you do with them and I agree that craftsmanship is more important to the final product than the tools used.

I plan to start looking further in depth @ the new technology that's been coming out. With my background, "if" led works out for my setup, I know I wouldn't be happy with purchasing a pre-built lighting setup. I'll have to make my own or my annoying ocd will never tell me its right.
Those boards are probably going to last 2-3 runs in the tent, and by then I'll either be dusting off the HPS or ordering parts for my DIY.
So, time for me to start researching it seems.

Run your grow warmer than you did under HID lights, maybe bump your nutrient strength a bit. You'll like way they look.

Took me a month to figure this out the hard way when growth stagnated at 73 degrees F when I got my first LED board. Added a heater to bump the temp to 78 and all was right with the world.

I started slowly raising temps a couple days ago from 75F to 82f/50RH to give them a head start before all the boards arrive.
Recieved the third earlier today, so half the tent is fully converted.
The others show up tomorrow.
So far so good I guess. I haven't noticed any issues from changing in the past week. Hopefully it all goes this smoothly...

I did some price matching magic and got some money off the list price. I decided to order through Home Depot, just in case it came broker, so I could just return it locally, and sure enough the first panel came shattered. Took it down the street, and them gave me a bit more on the reorder. I bought two 12v deep cycle marine batteries at walmart, which are run in parallel. Now, I'm slowly switching stuff over to 12 volt for the sake of efficiency. I have an inverter for 120v AC stuff, but trying to avoid it. I also got a 4-channel 12v wifi switch to control timings and such. I plan to eventually add two more 200w panels to max the system at 600watts.

I have a weird price structure because I have an electric vehicle. So basically the peak prices in the late afternoon and early evening are super high, but between midnight and 3pm they are low. I thought the off peak was up to 20-cents by now, but I guess then changed..

We installed solar last year and bought some Tesla batteries but still run the house off of the line and feed the grid which lowers our cost. Batteries are just for outages, which sadly we’ve had none since installing them, supposed to last a week even if the sun was blacked out.
