There will be lots of players trying to grab space in a huge market like NY. I just want the local farmers along with micro-businesses/craft growers to be able to have room within the new industry too.

Excited to see where prices go. Right now we're at 200 an ounce for mids, and 350 for top shelf from your local guy. Mids will definitely get cheaper.

Why would the price drop if the dispensary prices are even higher than that?
I realize this is controversial, but I will say it
If my home grown tomato plant can produce 8 lb of tomatoes.
And cannabis is a weed, which is capable of producing 8 oz easily outdoors with little more intervention than a tomato plant;
then 1 oz of weed should cost about the same as 1 lb of tomatoes. (less than $5 USD)
Add trimming and curing, maybe that quadruples the cost? ($20 USD)
Or just sell me raw wet weed, I will trim and cure...

That would depend how many other people are growing tomatoes. This theory leaves out "supply and demand".
I'm saying that the high price is due to the risk of legal penalty.
Legal home grow will create a glut, lowering the demand, thus lowering the cost.
Do you really think supply will shrink after home grow is legal?
I haven't grown since the 1980s due to legal concerns. Now I will.
I don't think I'm alone...

It’ll lower demand very slightly I suppose.. only a small percentage of users will grow their own, and people that like the good stuff won’t be able to grow comparable stuff unless they can walk into a nursery and by a legit cut and keep it healthy until harvest. I don’t think it’ll make a much of a difference, will the price change? Yeah maybe at some point, but not by a whole lot..
