I disagree about canna being head and shoulders above the rest.
I've used canna for years I've no problem with it but it needs 35/40% perlite.

canna almost falls through the sieve the cheaper brick coco is full of coco fibre its reluctant to go through at all, canna holds around 20% more water than the brick coco I have.

This is a sidetrack but I tried Promix HP this go around and had been using Canna Coco for my last 3 or 4 grows and it's fantastic stuff.

Canna coco is great if you're going coco, but if you are interested in experimenting with other mediums Promix HP has turned out fantastic for me, and it's cheap too (if you buy it by the bail).

Perlite gives the roots easier access to oxygen. So it is likely to increase plant size and yield.

Straight Botanicare bricked coco. No rinsing. Just rehydrate in 1/4 strength nutrient solution and use. No perlite needed. 100% coco works just fine. I hate perlite.

Perlite has its place but it’s completely ignorant to say it needs to be in coco, or adding it equals greater yields.

Been using canna coco for years without perlite or anything. The stuff is fine but on my 12 gallon pots, when my roots are filled up the drain is a bit slower than i'd like. Eitherway feeding 6-7 times (canna coco actually states you don't have to feed as often with their coco) I havent experienced any negative issues.

Blueberries, roses are among the many crops that get grown commercially in straight coco, no perlite.
Perhaps you could educate these crop farmers on the great ‘perlite depleting coco profits’ conspiracy.

First, Canna did not lead the way with coco. They might be a popular brand with cannabis growers but coco has been used for decades. Canna are not coco pioneers.

Second, I agree that perlite is not needed with quality coco and will not increase yields in any way.
