I just made some SIPs. I’m noticing how wet my soil is. I have the tote lids on and am keeping my res topped up every other day. When I stick my moisture meter in close to the stem it always in the upper 7,s. Plants are growing like mad. Is there any concern about the soil being too wet? Thanks.
It's part of the method! It's probably why LABS is so important, to keep bad mold and such away. Alan Adkisson always talks about bioremediation and pathogens when advertising his Grokashi method.

I missed this the other day. My Earthboxes dry out QUICKLY and it's a pain to keep them watered. This is the reason that I made my own SIPS. My plants are loving the homemade SIPS compared to the store bought Earthboxes. Believe me, I tried to make it work because I spent over $400 on Earthboxes. Just another mistake that I made...
I think it is because the wick is in one spot in the earth box vs a homemade sip like y’all are making where the whole floor is a wick. I did compact the edges more and that seemed to help. Well shit! My space is limited so maybe I’ll just make a couple 15 or 20 gal sips until I can get more space for some 30s.

Edit: there are two spots for a wick in a earth box. Doy!

Finished up my first time running this method a couple weeks ago and never updated y’all. 2 Bodhi Space Monkey chopped at 65 days. Super happy with the outcome and getting set up for a second go-round.

Hyroot, the guy that GreenThumbs learned this method from, said that he uses JADAM/KNF ferments. However, Hyroot is inactive now. I got to speak with him a little before he took off. Also, Hyroot was using homemade LABS and Photosynthesis Plus instead of EM1. He even got me into using LABS/Photosynthesis+ in my homemade Grokashi.
Hyroot is on Instagram, same name and all

It seems like B. Rust's Bokashi Earthworks was made for this style! Hopefully this style will work to keep heirloom tomatoes healthy this summer.

Oh, well good then. I was led to believe worms in the res is bad.
They aren’t in the reservoir, but in the soil. I did my first top dress before Easter in prep for my next run; then we decided to move. Been keeping the res filled but haven’t poked around in the soil. Getting set back up I checked the soil and surprise, there is a decent population of worms doing what they do.
