HPS and MH are great at different stages but are hot and expensive. It's a dying industry and the cost will only go up those items. Solid products if you want to use them though.I can take a garbage bag of fans and you wouldn’t know the difference in a week. I imagine environment plays a role in what you can and can’t do as well.
I veg with hps no problem, I don’t notice much difference using mh, genetics play a bigger role imo.

That's what you're removing by the garbage bag full. Of course, the plants can and will recover but genetics is what produced those fan leaves in the first place.
I havent seen the 2p. Last i checked they had a folding 7000. The 2p have bars or boards? You will just have to try different techs and go with what’s worked the best in the past. You will want to keep temps around 78-80 if you use hps, if I had to pick a rh for flowering I would just pin it around 35-40%, safe.. I used 600w hids for years, now I use a 1k hid with led, will go full led eventually once I source everything I need.Vegging with a combination of mh and led. Flowering with hps and led with uv and ir. Keeping a close eye on temps and humidity. Im gonna leave them. Take some off in flower maybe. The one side looks wilted cuz i had the led too close.

This is very true outdoors, indoors a plant has full access to a full spectrum of nutrients 24/7I would leave ALL fan leaves 99% of the time. Those are your main food producers
You're absolutely right, but with 4 kids and the oldest being 9, one project for me is enough. LED diodes are only made by two companies last I heard from a CEC at work, CREE and OSRAM. All LED lights use these diodes to function and are assembled by other 3rd parties after purchasing the diodes. Those are the most crucial piece so if you've done your research, I'm certain my light could be duplicated for much less. The video is about lights and is a good video. Dude definitely knows his stuff with lights! Still disagree about removing the fan leaves though.Yes take the fan leafs off, I shwazzle most of them all on day 1 flower and day 20 flower only

I sell HPS and MH for a living, the technology is so old that is becoming more expensive because it is being phased out due to their power consumption and life length being exponentially shorter. The only people still using it are either growers or utilities that have yet to upgrade for one reason or another... and it is not because it is cheaper. Yes they COST less upfront,, but when you run them, the cost is much higher when compared to LED overall.MH and HPS are not expensive. You can get 1000 watts of light for $150. Yes they might be hot but most are able to deal with the heat and in some cases it's beneficial.

Ya...low start up cost was attractive. I bought 3 600 watt mh/hps with both bulbs. Best deal i seen and theyre working nice. I have free electric so I dont mind them chewing up power. Stii got 2 leds also tho in hopes I dont burn this old place down. LolMH and HPS are not expensive. You can get 1000 watts of light for $150. Yes they might be hot but most are able to deal with the heat and in some cases it's beneficial.

I'm not anti LED but I've done the math and to replace my HID with an LED that provided the same light it would take almost 5 years to pay for itself. Now granted every situation is different. I grow in an unheated garage during the winter and have cheap power. If I lived in Arizona I probably wouldn't be running HID's. But where I'm at the initial cost outlay doesn't really justify any savings in power. I could make more money than I can save by putting that same amount of money to work for me. It doesn't make sense financially for many people to switch to LED.

BTW, even CREE and OSRAM diodes are used in crap lights, beware of ratings that don't reference umols per second and ppfd. If they tell you they have full spectrum and equivalent wattage without much else it's likely a crap light.
