2021 Backyard Grow -65gal smart pots- -3rd season-

This is the third year with the 65gal smart pots. Last year blew me away and I’m sure I maxed the pots out.

This season starts with screening the pots to remove the excess root masses and breaking the soil up, the roots are then composted in a raised bed. I added an early dose of Gaia green so it’s broken down into the soil by the time we plant.

The strains I’ll be working with are clones donated by a co-worker and are :

1. Remo Chemo
2. Strawberry banana

The clones are under my LED getting use to a stronger light currently. Then into the greenhouse before going out for the season. Excuse the bad photo the tent is in a night cycle

May I ask what was the dry yield off of one 65 gallon container?

4lbs roughly. My smallest plant was 2.5-3lbs. I don’t weight at the end of the season anymore though.

Interesting to know your yield, I'm getting 1 - 1.5 lbs in 10 gal pots with sativa, and little under a lb with indica.

I had to cover them in a clear tarp for the last month to keep them dry, October can kill a season with mold here. pre legalization I’ve walked out to bush grows to find 6’ of mold instead of a harvest

the weeping hose helped huge last year, but I could have pushed them 3+ more weeks if the weather wasn’t closing in. Each year is different and a learning curve.

So this was a disappointing start for my season. Luckily I do have 4 plants out for the season, but not the best cuttings I had planned to use. A week or two after that first post my timers crapped out leaving the light on and with root bound plants in too small of pots, they fried before their scheduled watering, lessons were learned, sigh.

I removed about 1/3 from each smartpot to start some other pots in the vegetable garden, which means new soil here’s the mix that went into them:

2 bags worm castings
2 bags for farm ocean forest soil
2 bags cow manure
2 bags of sheep manure
1 bags worth of vermiculite (left over)

Before the plants are established I have to place the weaping hose out, I don’t like using a wand it causes to much spray. And once the plants are strong enough to train I’ll be training them to take the first layer of netting,
