Best way to cut clones???

Im attempting a perpetual grow and Im at the point where Im ready to flip the first 20 girls and take clones from the 3 best. I topped all my plants. Im wondering if the best clones will come from the top 2 branches or the sides? Also should I cut just above the first node (not counting the top)? Trim some of the top leaves or leave them be? How often should I mist and should I keep water in the bottom of the tray? I have botanicare kind nutes and some thrive alive. Also some cal mag. RO water. Whats a good mix for my misting bottle? Mist the clones directly or the tray? Soak rapid rooters? Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for helping a rookie out all you hedy mfers!!!

I'm a newb with clones as well but I can tell you what worked for me. I Soak the plugs in 5.5 ph water then I cut a branch with about 3-4 nodes at 45 degrees and lightly skined the stem. I didn't trim the leaves. Dipped in root it hormone powder ( not sure if this did anything to help) then inserted in the plug from the side without the pre-made hole. Put it in a tray with dome and a little water in the tray. Mist dome everyday to keep humidity at 80-100%. Add ph water to the cube with a dropper or sprayer everyday or two. All this under a table lap light. A week later I got a root.

No kind of nutes in the water? Is it neccessary to go that many nodes down? I was thinking about throwing them in the flower room after I cut the clones.

Yesterday (Day 7 or 8 ) I gave it a little water with aloe and seaweed extract but nothing heavy just some supplements with fractions of npk. I did occasionally mist the leaves with 5.5 ph water. I think giving them ph water is the most important thing besides the environment. I tried before with regular water and always failed.

Ok cool. I think the thrive alive I have is a seaweed extract.

The ones that vegd the most indica dominant is what Im going for. A few look extra exceptional. Trying to average the same height. The one strain is growing tall fast but not as many bud sites. Looki g for short ones with the most nodes. My thoughts anyways

There are 3 strains so Ill be selecting the best looking one from each and taking 10 clones from each. Was going to flower them after I cut the clones.

Ah I quoted the wrong post lol.

I was reading your post thinking you make a good point and must have quoted without thinking, it's a shot in the dark just keeping 3, I'd at least make arrangements to re veg the root ball of any exceptional phenos or take flower clones for a slow root/grow.

That's the best photo I have it'll give you a idea maybe.

Given the option I'll take one of bigger clones.
But a single growing tip with a set leafs will root fine.
Ideally you want a leaf node below the surface of the plug

This hasn't been cloned but same applies, you can see there's a leaf node in the plug.
Maybe you can't, maybe I just know it's there?
FYI the above clone was rooted on the plant, it's easy and doesn't require any other light space, propagator etc etc.
