Trichomes are about 50% amber at 4 weeks into budding?!?!?(not talking about pistils)

I got the same thing happening to a couple sweet trainwreck plants. The trichs came before flowering I mean it looks like someone dumped trichomes on the buds. I'm 4 weeks from finish and the bigger top colas are all about 10 to 25 percent amber. But I got tons of smaller buds still developing. Should I chop the tops and let the rest mature.
Make sure your looking at the trichomes on the bud itself & not sugar leaves. Touching your buds will cause trichomes to amber, so make sure to resist.
Should I chop the tops and let the rest mature.
That is definitely an option

If your got 4 weeks left, I am assuming those tops are far from ready...

I saw my post in this thread about waiting on amber resin in the buds and ignore the sugar leaves going amber. hehe I no longer wait on amber of any kind. I take the plants down after I see cloudy resin, even if most of the resin is still clear. Less time wasted and less lethargic effects. If you want to kick back then things could be different but I want energizing sativas at this point

I started growing in 2010 and took the usual advice to wait for amber resin but lately have been taking the plants down before much or any amber shows.

Why not just grow sativa‘s if that’s the effect you’re after  Harvesting a plant early is a sin in my book. If you want a fast finisher grow an Indica

I had the same thing happen to one of the plants in the grow I just harvested. It's kind of funny, one of these old posts here said he saw it in a "Hawaiian strain", well, the plant that did it for me was Hawaiian Snow. Some buds 100% amber while some, on the same canopy level, same light exposure, are between 5-50%. Out of curiosity, I tried smoking some of the 100% trichome bud and it was outstanding, zero couchlock effect. Don't buy into the "harvest when milky" "too much amber=couchlock" BS bro-science that keeps getting repeated with no one actually verifying its accuracy...if you harvest with little to no amber, you are harvesting weeks early and greatly losing out on potency, yield, and quality of high. If you want a positive "up" high, get yourself a pure or close to pure sativa AND shoot for 30-50% amber trichomes AND all of the other signs of ripeness. If you want a couchlock strain, do the same for an Indica or Indica dominant strain. The point is, let your plants ripen FULLY and they will display the full genetic potential of their high.

I do grow sativas and am not harvesting early. If you like the effect of leaving the plant till amber go for it. I feel nothing better in that experience. Some plants will not ever really go amber. Waiting for amber is letting it get overdone for me. If you notice a positive difference with waiting then of course that is the way to go, I have never had that happen.

How about some pics of the plants you speak of? Since you brought back a 10 year old thread we might as well try to help.

I'm a first-time grower of Trainwreck And they never really held any amber pistols. I'm at 9 weeks now And my trichomes are cloudy but none of them have an amber color to them. When should I harvest my Trainwreck
