is UV light ok for organics? And supplementary lighting questions.

Thought i mite ask the question as i now have them and seem to be finding mixed information on the correct usage of supplementary lighting. I've posted in another thread about this but no answer's yet.

anyway , I have a sleep initiator(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1913/3663/files/HL14-P69-00_30W_730nm.pdf?v=1611534455)
which is on alongside the grow light for roughly 15mins. After the grow light has timed out, Sleep Initiator will continue to be on for another 15 minutes would this be sweet? When in flower would you start using it? As im not currently using in veg

Also have a 30 watt UV led(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1913/3663/files/HL14-P85-00_30W_385nm_tempered_glass-min.pdf?v=1604700916)
would anyone have any recommendations on timing for this light, and if using in no-till will it harm the bacteria? just some thoughts?.

Not a big concern in my opinion.
The only place at risk of having bacteria killed it the top layer of soil in your pots, you can cover the soil with straw or woodchip mulch if your worried.
Beneficial bacteria can multiply so fast that all the live stuff in the soil underneath should have it under control.
One thing I thought about, The beneficial microbes outside don’t get killed by the UV the sun puts out and it’s putting out a whole spectrum of UVA,B and C.

But you should probably wear some safety glasses or sunglasses, UV is terrible for your eyes.

ye i kinda figured that was the case,i have decent pea straw mulch on top of cover crop so they shud be fine.does anyone use or have a on/off time and how long and at what stage(im guessing all the way through)?.

Ive read about 6,5 hrs a day along side the main lights, on and off for 10-20mins burst and no longer than 6 hrs.was just curious as to wheather anyone else uses them and what your schedule is?

With uva it’s mild and can be ran side by side all day with your normal lighting.
I’m new to UV specific LED’s and am slowly working it in. I got two HLG uv boosters and I started with 3-3.5hours in veg daily working to 5.5hours in the beginning of flower, I’ll probably work it up to like 9-12 hours a day by the end of flower this time. Maybe all 12 if they’re looking healthy

This is just what I’m trying. I’ve seen DR.Bugbee suggest the pulsing of uv could be beneficial. So many fun things to tinker with eventually!

I'm using a 24 watt 6%uvb arcadia bulb for the first time this grow. I've been running it on the same timer as the main lights since about day 10 of veg. I definitely let it get a bit close to the top cola, but all in all things look good to me.

I'm new to uvb and also pretty inexperienced myself so hard for me to quantify the benefit of having the uvb bulb added, but I can't see any major issues being caused by it either. I personally wouldn't be too concerned with overdoing the uva, just have to find that sweet spot for hanging height.

Hope all works out nicely for you guys and hope to see some updates. I'd love to try out some uv diodes somewhere down the road, but gonna mess around with the couple bulbs I have on hand first.

do you run deep and far red?
My main fixtures don’t have far red but I have a rapid led FR initiator puck.
They say for putting plants to sleep it covers a 3X3 area.
I’m considering putting that in my smaller tent and looking into two of these for my larger tent.

Otherwise I’d need 4 of the rapid led FR pucks to cover my 4.5X6.5 tent

got a couplee burnt tips at the top, but only on two plants not much, but noticable.that was abt 3 days ago ive moved all the lights abt 70cm away and seems to be no burnt tips.Im thinking from the uv light.those lights from alibaba are cheaper than the ones i got, mayb i got ripped.heres the ones i got,can never have too many lights aye

are far reds and deep reds meant only for flower?

HLG suggested keeping their bars around 24 inches away.
HLG have 385nm and 365nm diodes
I think you’ll be safe anywhere from 18-24 inches away,I am currently.

Are you sure you haven’t fed a little heavy lately?

I grow organic and use UV. I use 4 x 4ft agromax UVA bulbs from seedling and haven't seen any issues. (although I only use one bulb in seedling stage) I grow other plants that go outside so use them to harden them beforehand. I'm pretty sure all day UVA is fine from seedling through flower. I also use a 4ft agromax pureuv but in short bursts and found that using the UVA bulbs with UVB allowed them to take more UVB. I am going through a cycle right now with non-UVA clones to confirm. Going to try and blast them with the same UVB without hardening them with UVA. Its only my 3rd cycle using with uvb and 2nd cycle with both so still assessing. frost was real high on both grows. They also seem to pray heavily after using them. not sure if there is any correlation there though.

here are pics of the last grow with them. https://www.rollitup.org/t/whos-got-the-fostiest-buds-lets-see-how-frosty-a-bud-can-really-get.330370/post-15989550

Is this the first run with no till?
How many cycles has the soil gone through?
If it’s your first run it may not go great because everything is just getting active, I’ve seen less deficiencies and problems each run after the first.

Also have you had the roots too wet/ too dry at any points?
It looks like a little more going on than UV burn.
I could imagine UV burn if you were running UVB and UVC like a T5HO.

ye so this is my second run in the no-till fabric pots.nah bro i remember spraying for thrips abt 3days before i got the uv light,so cuda been some residue from the spray and the uv baked it in lol i dont know,i have blumats for watering.but magnetik, ive found that my plants have started to pray also.

Yep I run them as close as a few inches in seedling stage and up near my bar lights in flower. The T5's gives a bit more UVA then UVA leds but still might want to test your cultivars first grow and make sure they like it. I hear some don't. I've only seen benefits so far. People say it reduces yield but I haven't seen it. I do disable them in early flower when I turn on my red's but back on after mid flower to end.

Here's a bigger pic of the grow in my avatar. Had one that prayed like in every direction. I'm still waiting for my tent to fall apart. I applied some uv protectant to try and give me a few extra runs hopefully. 192.168.1.209_5 x 5_main_20201219013031.jpg
