Rough Start with Nectar for the Gods

Hi Everyone,

My last grow went quite well using General Organics. I switched to NFTG #2 and nutes this round...and WTF is going on? A lot of yellowing and little growth in a couple weeks. Did a half light feeding a few days ago and full yesterday. Bags and soil were never wet. Per NFTG’s guidance since Cal based, my water PH has been 6.15 and 6.35. Slurry test = coco @ 6.8ph. First pic is sour sorbet that has taken a nose dive.
Thanks!!

I’ve never slurried coco before either...like I said, I haven’t used NFTG before. I’ve watched their videos and this was a suggestion. The grow shop I use gave a feed chart as well which also said the same. Nevertheless, it came out still within range albeit a little high at 6.8.

As far as EC, I follow the feeding schedule. For the first feed, I simply halved it. Second was full dose. I know very exact number I’m giving you there

I would be careful and not use full strength nutrients. I wouldn't even when they're big. When you feed keep your ph between 5.7 and 6 don't go any higher.

soooo what y’all are saying is chill the eff out on any nutes and go back to plain old phd water?

I guess this poses the grand question...why would they have the suggested PH 6-7 since it’s Cal based? Am I missing something?

I've used their products in soil not coco but most everything they have published is for soil growing. Some do use it with coco.

In soil I used 1/4 strength of their recommended seedling dose.
1/4 tsp of the Medusa, Gaia, and Zues. As well as 1/4 tsp demeter per gallon. ~6.4 pH Added demeter was to compensate for RO water.

Used that sparingly as needed til the plant has at least 2 sets of real leaves before starting to ease up.

Because of all the time it takes to mess with all the various products not to mention the grand expense of it all, switched to megacrop.

Jesus... wish I had done that sooner or knew to do that in the beginning. However experience is one hell of a teacher.

So what EC did you feed them at?

You fed those seedlings full strength nutrients? What was the ppm of that? The first picture that seedling is getting crispy fried.
Supposedly Because of non-plant food ingredients to feed microbes and all the other "stuff" a full schedule dose can be way over 1900 ppm at the flower stage.

Super helpful explanation. Thank you for taking time to write such a detailed explanation. Like I said, last run I used General Organics w a very solid output of a few og, a sorbet and the French cookies were insane. I wanted to experiment with NFTG and figured I’d go w their coco mix + nutes. Thus far, I feel like it’s my first grow.

I feel as if their feeding schedule is either for an extra large plant in a large pot or just plain ol' bullshit. Only had one plant that actually used anywhere close to full dose.

Not sure about how it acts in coco but the bone meal in Hercules will sludge up at the top of the soil during flower. It appears to fall out of the water and just sits on top. Makes one hell of a nasty mess to deal with.

Best way I've found is to break it up is with a metal fork. The excess calcium builds up in the soil and wreaks havoc on pH and nute balance. End up having to use an enzyme like slf100 or hygrozyme to help clean up the excess crap that builds up in the medium.

Side by side smoking megacrop vs NFTG buds? Wouldn't really be able to tell the difference myself.

No noticable difference in yield.

The reduced amount of effort to keep a plant healthy with the megacrop and the money left over from not buying $100s of bottles still tickles the shit outta me.

The pH has nothing to do with EC and the concentration of the nutrients other than different nutrients being more accessible at different pH levels.

There is no reason to be feeding small seedlings full strength nutrients regardless of what substrate you're growing in.

If you're in straight coco then 6.0 pH is a good number to shoot for.

I just bought the nftg line. Well 8 of the bottles. I have seedlings about to go into coco loco and am trying to figure this out before i start feeding. I was told to feed feed flush feed feed flush etc. I just dont know what water to use. My well water has 330 ppm with a ph of 7.3. So im trying to figure out what water to use and how when feeding and flushing. Im used to using fox farm nutes, calmag, and ph up and down so im very confused and hoping someone can lend a hand
