And that maybe allowing kids to be what they are without abusing them into what may be camouflaged into looking 'normal' before they even have a chance to understand their urges, might be more healthy and lead them to be more open about what they feel?

And so that number difference between the generations is just picking up the ability to be honest in a survey?

People are also adapting to having a near double average lifespan since my grandpa's birth would be my bullshit guess. It makes sense that the middle class don't have to work as hard and rely on kids to help the family like the good ole days of America.

Having a bunch of kids is great when you need a cheap workforce.

Not abusing our kids into whatever version our fathers beat into us doesn't mean that we were tougher or in any way better than the kids today. I really look forward to what they are able to do when they get the chance to take the reigns of our society.

My great-great-grandfather had 13 kids, they spent twenty years building stone walls on the farm in pennsylvania to hold the livestock. Finished about a year before barbwire was invented.
