I had too hot of soil last time and stunted the seedlings last time that's why I got this cheaper soil.

Like other suggested it looks like very low quality soil. More wood chips and twigs than actual peat.

I complain when I find a few twigs in our local brands, you guys on the other side of the pond seem to be selling some really low quality stuff.

In a couple of years all sales of peat based compost are going to be banned in the UK.

To the OP, I really wouldn't worry about the Cotyledons being a bit weird. I have an Auto that is much the same, it was a bit slower to get going than the rest, but got there in the end.

Sorry for you guys. The seedling doesn't look to good and on the edge to start wilt/damp of because of overwatering and bad environment. You mean he shouldn't bother and improve on his methods?

There's always coir in lack of peat! Cheers!

Peat is horrifically bad for the environment and there are plenty of good alternatives coming on to the market.

What makes you think it is overwatered? You can't tell that from the pictures. The mix he is in does look wet, but it made up of plenty of coarse material, so is probably quite free draining. From the looks it wouldn't be my first choice, but that doesn't mean it is bad. I have grown decent weed in the cheapest compost mixes known to man and they have been more or less fine. As the OP has said his 4 other seedlings are doing fine. I have had this happen more than once and it has always come good in the end. In nature there is always a weakling, the "runt of the litter if you will".

To the OP, keep the moist, give them good light and plenty of air and that one will begin to come good.

Well there's not much wrong with my eyes so I can see it's been overwatered, clearly oversaturated on the second picture compared to the first. Seeds need a moist medium, not oversaturated and wet.

It's your seeds so I suggest you do what YOU want with those seeds. Some people just keep doing the same errors all over believing it's normal to loose 30-50% of the seed because "that's what happens in nature".

Other like higher success rates and wants to do a better job than mother nature. I personally don't like killing seeds I've paid a lot of money for, I think most people want to avoid this.

I've put the same amount of water on all of them and the other 4 look super healthy, but this was a freebie pack so I'm not too worried.

Too early to tell. . . I wouldn’t be so quick to shit on your soil as all the rest are in the same soil and apparently doing fine. Could be bad genetics, could be a problem with your roots, could be over watering or watering too frequently. Too many times we do too much when plants require so little. . . The true leaves look fine so I wouldn’t stress too much. Remember not all plants require the exact same if everything which is why one can be “overwatered” and the others do just fine.
