Coco - How much water per day per 3 gal fabric pot

Hey guys, first post, first grow, maybe silly question.

I'm planning on starting up (6) 3 gallon plants in a 5x5 tent with 2x Grow Light Science 300s in coco fabric pots in a couple weeks. I'm going to be hand watering, feeding simple GH Trio + calmeg and keeping it rather simple the first time around.

The reason for my question is I want to buy a bucket/resevoir to mix nutes, for 1-2 (at least one) days at a time. Knowing I will be hand watering 2+ times per day, I'd like to not mix the nutrients for every feeding, I'd prefer to get a bucket and keep it cool/dark/bubbling for the day or two. So my question is this:

Those with experience using 3gal fabric in coco, at their hungriest, deep into flower, what is the maximum amount of water (per plant/per day) you're feeding your plants?

Just use a 5 gallon bucket or two
Approximately a half gallon every few days
But it is constantly changing with maturity , Rh...

Well I have a black food grade 12 gallon bucket that I was hoping would give me 2 days worth of water, just figured I'd ask since I can't seem to find a solid answer on this.

You will never use 12 gallons in two waterings in 3 gallon pots

The amount changes with the plants age........I just feed until it runs out the bottom.

Once root bound my 3 gal pots did about 5-6 litres a day

I always just use an 18 gallon tote. That way you don't have to mix anything up for a week to 10 days. I don't use air stones either. I use a small pond pump on the bottom. It aerates the water better because it disrupts the surface constantly exposing the nutrient solution to more air than a stream of small air bubbles provides.

But how long you can keep a nutrient solution depends on the nutrients as well.

As you can see the surface of the water is constantly circulating providing more surface area for the solution to come in contact with air. I use the same pump in a 5 gallon bucket when mixing smaller amounts as well.

Youll get into a routine,very easy to mix daily or every other day.You wont even need meters after awhile.

Have tried many different types of nozzles and this has worked the best for me. Rainbird Stream rotors. The fitting shown in the circle is a 1/4 inch quick disconnect, can be used to remove the plants from the tent to work on them.

Wow, very nice. Unfortunately I'm in an apartment so I'm too chicken to run water. I was back and forth on rdwc/drip for a while but ended up on hand watering just for peace of mind. Gunna be a lot of work but I'm going to have to suck it up while I'm here.

You mention 8 and 24 plant runs. How often are you filling the res running 8 at what size pots?

The key is collecting runoff,as long as you have that rigged up and not plants just sitting in trays you'll be good.

Thats not very good,get yourself an elevated tray with a drain.Makes it so much easier and youll be very glad you did.

Get a 4x4 tray with a bulkhead in one corner.This way youll always get enough runoff.Make it easy for yourself.

100%, I plan on switching to something like this in a grow or two. Gunna have to bite the bullet for now.. too much spent already, the wife is on high alert

I hate shop vac runoff removal. This is so much faster and quieter. 7 quart oil drain pans. Dump n go. You can easily measure % of runoff since they're marked by the half quart. Easy to check runoff PH/EC for an individual pot, etc..
The runoff from my cannabis gets fed to house plants, tomatoes, peppers, flowers and the lawn.

You mention 8 and 24 plant runs. How often are you filling the res running 8 at what size pots?

I would say, if you are going to hand water, do not let coco dry out, you may have to hand water multiple times. Water to runoff and collect and dump the waste, do not let plants sit in the waste, and do not reuse the waste water.

My last run, 6 Mimosa EVO's, I was running 5 start times per 12 hr light cycle in a 24 gallon rez, watered to just run off. On the 7th day I had two to three gallons in the rez and would add 3 gallons of RO which lowered the strength of my solution by 3 to 400 ppm, then do a flush. I ran 1 minute times, let them drain completely the do another flush till the rez was empty.
It was my best run ever at 2 plus pounds.

This is my drain set up, I run the plants one a 1 inch raised wire rack.


That sits one the drip tray with bulkhead fitting that drains into a lower catch basin.


Then it is sucked out with a small pump that I pump into a bucket that I pour into a larger container outside to water my house plants and garden.
