Alrighty gents, will have a go at it I think. My potted plants are at flip time and will prolly need the whole tent to flower but I really want to see this hydro thing pick up. Been trying so hard...wife is getting impatient with all the time I've spent so far. "Obsessive" among other words has been taking up more real estate on her tongue lately and I don't know how to slip an eviction notice in there without getting my wee wee slammed in the door. Just gotta see it through, ya know? Commitment?
As always, I'm forever grateful for the time and attention you have given me and will do my best to do right by it.

@rkymtnman forgot to mention because it didn't show in my picture that the bucket is wrapped with insulation and an outer layer of duct tape so I think if there was any any light getting in probably wasn't from the sides...right?

Yes they are. This is what I have going, just got home from work. Switch the bucket out for another one that has insulation foam around the outside and put inside another bucket. These roots sat inside the other net pot and just started to poke a couple Roots out the bottom after probably two weeks in that solid sided net pot. Been using little bits of H2O2 instead of hydroguard. My fox farm grow big for hydro could be 2 years old now do you think this is an issue? Maybe I need to freshen up my nutes? It's almost gone anyways .... As you can see my potted soil plants are doing better they're all the same age as the hydro. Sadly. Now I'm going to wet that towel to boost the humidity so that goes out for at least half of the day so that goes up for at least half of the day s

I've made so many attempts at cooling the water we could kill a challenge cone by the time I told you them all lol In the end I Gave in and went chiller.

Tried coils, a converted cooler with 2l ice bottles, swamp, dry ice, air conditioner... The Edison mentality doesn't apply here when a simple chiller will do.

I made a chiller out of a water cooler. Took the guts out of the tank to put a 15' coil of 3/8" tubing that runs off a small fountain pump in my tub to circulate the nutes up and back. Worked so well that I had to put a timer on the cooler so 15min on 45 off. Need to cover the exposed tubing to block light or algae grows inside it. The cooler tank is filled with auto anti-freeze for better heat transfer and cut evaporation.

Mosquito screening hot-glued over the pump intake to keep roots out. The pump runs 24/7

It could easily chill a larger rez or at least a couple of those tubs that hold 50L each.

Hey do you have a little box with a flat head and a separate, Philips head screw that appears to be some kinda setting adjustment? If so, and yours is set up like this do you know which one does what?

On the back there's a little screw to adjust the temp but even as low as it goes it will freeze at the bottom of the cooler tank. That's one of the reasons I filled the tank with anti-freeze. The other reason was lower evaporation.

I'm not sure what the philips screw one does but the flathead one should be for up and down temp. Mine just has the flathead.

Thank you. I didn't see a change one way or the other but I unhooked the heater tank partially and hoping that might be affecting the cooler. Idk. It got down to 40 some when it was out on my deck and about 60 ambient....
