Once I have my seedling starting and rock wool setup on hydroponic system do I need to water the Rockwell to keep moist?! Or will the hydroton and water into the roots keep it moist?

Seedlings are way too young to be put in hydro like NFT so I love to air root prune them first on a refrigerator mesh rack, I just dip the 4" rockwool cube in water for a few seconds and NO more every other day and after 3-4 weeks you have a massive rootball ready to go into hydro (I know by weight as they hold a lot of water)

Good luck.

Iv ran from the jump in rdwc. And dwc.
But I hate hydro an don't do hydro so I dont know if it's frowned on or anything but yeah. When I ran hydro 2 inch cubes in a 6inch cube into my hydroton in my net pot over my res. And if the rockwool somehow got dry. I'd top water. But after a week or so after pip. Tap root usually in the res by then

When I did use it just a standard few bucket run. Once with all buckets linked to main res and a few times individual pump and drain. Just 5 gal buckets a piece. Nothing special nothing fancy. My old profile has my gods gift run.

You may need to top water a little until the roots hit the wet hydroton.. Careful rockwool holds a lot of water..

as long as you keep an eye on it, keep the rockwool watered dayly and watch untill the roots hit the water, turn the pumps on and away you go. ive grown with rockwool direct into the water b 4, as long ads the pumps are going, your absorbing oxygen into the res water/nute water and you should be good.
but if your unsure, just water by hand untill the roots are established enough to hit the nute solution,. remember less is more, use a 1/4 strength solution, not the full strength that the bottle says or you will most likely kill your young plants. hapy growing and dont be afraid to ask a question no matter how stupid or dumb it may sound. the search engine is fantastic on here, you will find the answers to most questions, but untill you get used to it, just ask away. good luck gogo
