My environment controller has intermittent or constant idle and cooling speeds.
Below x centigrade its slow fan speed/off and above x centigrade it kicks in at cooling speed.
I usually need it on intermittently to let heat build up but it's a balmy 16c outside so I can run it constantly atm but only slowly!
Yesterday it was 22c at the intake and I was maintaining 26.5c on the 3rd setting approx 15% of the fans power (6" systemair 680m3 iirc)
I normally use 600/660w hps and the same applies in regards to power settings, I've never required more than 50% of the fans power and considerably less when I run it constantly.
It could be the way I've my tent set up or whatever but at the end of the day all being equal a constantly running fan is much better at maintaining temperature rather than trying to fight it back down after its rises.
