Couple of Northern Lights Autos on their 17th day from seed, seem like healthy girls. Is it normal for this to happen so early and because of less veg time does this affect Yield ?
In my experience, no it's not normal, but you will see tons of others here experiencing the same thing. Yes it will effect yield.

Oh right I thought auto's had a lifespan instead of depending on photo period. The breeder information states 8-9 weeks from seed. So are you saying I will yield sooner than this ?

Breeders don't list accurate time frames. It's best to just ignore them completely. Autoflowers will start flowering based on genetics not light schedule. Flowering still takes a minimum of 8 weeks.

I only grow autos and it takes an average of 100 days from seed to fully ripe in my experience. I've had one finish in 84 days but it showed sex at 22 days as opposed to the normal one month mark. Once they show sex I would say its an 8 week flower period as a general rule.

From your experience is it better to keep them on grow nutrients for a bit longer ?
I grow in living soil so the plant has as much as it wants whenever it wants. The plant will flower when its ready. I have seen them flower early due to stress but keeping them on "grow" nutes will not magically keep an autoflower in veg longer.

I feed the same nutes start to finish but, I'd stick with grow nutes through stretch. You have up to 2 weeks before full flower mode. They can double in size during this time.

Yeah this happened to me with mephisto autos. Went into flower mode 2-3 weeks from seed. I think it was due to having too much nutrients in soil and not enough watering.

You could be right, I've been trying to let her dry out between each watering. Didl it have any negative Effects on your plant?

I was waiting too long to water. You should only let dry out completely occasionally and not regularly. Especially early in plant life.
