McCarthy 'shocked' Cheney accepted Jan. 6 panel assignment from Pelosi
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Thursday that he was "shocked" that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) would accept an invitation from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to serve on the new select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
McCarthy said that he hadn't heard from Cheney and suggested that she is more allied with Democrats than the party in which she served as the third-ranking leader until her ouster in May.
"I was shocked that she would accept something from Speaker Pelosi," McCarthy told reporters in the Capitol.

"It would seem to me, since I didn't hear from her, maybe she's closer to [Pelosi] than us. I don't know," he said.

When a reporter asked McCarthy if he believed Trump is accountable in any way for what led to the Jan. 6 attack, he avoided directly responding and pivoted to a recent Senate committee report that outlined law enforcement agencies' failure to prepare for the violence.

"There's so many failures along that way that happened the days before that allowed individuals to get into the building," McCarthy said, ignoring the reporter's attempt to press again specifically about Trump's role.

McCarthy further said that he is "not threatening anybody with committee assignments," but nevertheless indicated that Cheney was on thin ice with House Republicans for accepting the select committee assignment from Pelosi.

"I don't know in history where someone would go get their committee assignments from the Speaker and expect to have them from the conference as well," McCarthy said.

There were so many failures. You would think maybe it would be a good idea to get to the bottom of it?

That is unless a bunch of you were involved.

If DC was to gain state good, then criminal activity in the Congress, White House, etc. could run the risk of being treated at a state level instead of federal level thereby voiding any presidential pardons.

Does that sound correct?

If correct would that not be an extremely good reason for lots of politicians to be against DC statehood?

Not try to derail the thread but a thought as to why so many politicians are against it beside the fact that DC is populated with a liberal democratic type of people.

Oath Keeper member's lawyer says DC residents 'despise' traditional US values
n a “motion to transfer venue” filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the defense team for Navy veteran Thomas Caldwell argues that his case should be moved to the federal court in the Western District of Virginia.

The filing, which was first reported by BuzzFeed News, argued that Washington, D.C., is the “birthplace of ‘The Resistance,’ ” which it defined as “a loosely organized movement among left-wing activists to thwart President Trump’s lawful executive orders and actions.”

Caldwell’s lawyer specifically cited protests surrounding Trump’s 2016 inauguration, alleging that demonstrators were seen “destroying businesses, cars, and other property, and attacking Trump supporters.”

“District residents not only despise Caldwell’s politics — they despise many things that traditional America stands for,” Caldwell’s attorney argued.

“District residents, who largely style themselves as chic, sophisticated, worldly, high-brow urbanites, are repulsed by rural America’s traditional values, patriotism, religion, gun ownership, and perceived lack of education,” the filing added.

“Conversely, rural America is repulsed by what it perceives as East and West Coast progressive snobbery, addiction to government funding, lack of moral values, and petulant intolerance for those with different viewpoints,” the motion said, adding, “To deny that the lion’s share of potential District jurors will be highly predisposed against a Trump-supporting defendant is like denying that water is liquid.”

The filing argued that Caldwell “should be judged on the facts of the case and the law, not on his prior support for President Trump.”

Ironically, they've become exactly what they hate. People taking to the streets and committing crimes is the lazy person's method, which is pretty standard for any criminal. They don't want to take the long hard road to doing something right, because that's like....a lot of hard work and stuff, so they twist their psyche into being willing to break the law to get what they want, right now. That's exactly what a Jan. 6th'er is, a pos lazy criminal thug not willing to do things the right way because it's too much work.

But They Did Do The Right Thing!!!

Over 50 court cases up to the Supreme Court, you can not say they did not do the right thing. But the courts are corrupt. Wanting evidence and stuff like that.

‘QAnon Shaman’ flips and cooperates with FBI — hands over info on accomplice

Jacob Angeli, the Arizona man who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 wearing face paint and a fur hat with bull horns, is reportedly now cooperating with the FBI, and has even handed over information regarding someone who helped him travel to D.C. on that day, USA Today reports.

Angeli’s attorney says his client has given authorities video footage and details about how he traveled to D.C., along with “protracted debriefings.” He also reportedly gave the FBI the name of a person who financed his trip.

Albert Watkins, Angeli’s attorney, says his client’s cooperation was not part of any plea deal and demonstrates his “wholesale commitment” to do “what is right for the country.”

So the guy traveled to DC so what? This guy did no damage. What would have been right for the country would have been Pence demanding the electors from disputed states be decertified instead of being the coward he proved to be. Seems that a compromised election is less important to you than some nutcase "parading" through the halls of congress. I mean Pelosi does it all the time.

Only one case actually made it to the Supreme Court regarding the election, that would be the Texas vs Pennsylvania case. The supreme Court refused to hear any evidence or take the case. I guess you don't know it being a Canadian but the US Supreme court was created to settle disputes between the states, meaning the SC refused to do it's duty. And by the way if you interested here are a list of court cases regarding the election and it appears that in almost every case that was actually heard Trump's side won.

This certainly refutes the leftrat media claim than election cases have been "laughed out of every court".

How cute. He's denying that Trump incited a mob to attack Congress using baseless claims of election fraud. That is so 2020.

Trump's Giuliani Four Seasons Clown Show was laughed out of court at least 50 times. The best was the time Trump's lawyer admitted to the judge that they had no evidence to support their claim.

You guys would be funny if you hadn't tried to take over the government. It's time to change the name of the terrorist organization "Proud Boys" into something more appropriate. "Prison Bitches" is my suggestion.
