Is it possible to tell my plants gender?

Hello!

These are my first plants i’ve grown, i’ve been basing it off of info from several sources online and i had a few problems in the beginning, but they’re a lot better now. i’m not sure what types of plants they are, as we got them from random nugs we had. So i was wondering when you know if your plant is a female/male? i’ve been having trouble trying to identify, and didn’t know if i had to wait or not until they started budding. other than that, i think my plants are doing pretty well for my first time growing! :) thanks for any input. btw, the pics are two diff plants

On the first pic it looks like I see some kind of preflowers forming on a node, but it's not zoomed in enough... but it does resemble pollen sacks. Hopefully I'm wrong. The second one I don't see anything yet.

Too early to tell for sure, but if they are bagseed, were there a bunch of seeds in the bag? Or just the odd one here and there?

If there were a lot, it was likely pollinated by a male and the seeds will be 50/50 male/female. If there were just a few, it's more likely an accidental self-pollination and the plants will be all female (with a tendency towards being hermie).

When the plants begin to alternate branches you'll see pistils on the females. Boys don't always demonstrate their proclivities prior to shorter length light.

it was just the odd seed out here and there, definitely gonna look into buying seeds next time around, but this has been a solid starting run. i’m hoping they come out to be female though!

Somebody mentioned yesterday that you could take a cutting off each and flip the cuttings to check sex. Might save you some scrog trouble later.

I’m not quite sure I understand what you mean unfortunately, can you possibly link the post?
You cut off a branch put it in a cup of water and put it under 12/12 lights. In about 2 weeks it will let you know if a plant is a male before you have to try to unwrap it out of a scrog net if you scrog :) I don't so it's as easy as bagging the plant and cutting the trunk :)

The caveat is your plant has to be mature enough to develop flowering auxins. You tell that by it's phyllotaxy, alternating branches vs opposing branches

thank you! I’ll try it out when they’re older for sure. In terms of a scrog net, is it something you recommend?

I don't use it. But I would recommend scrogging if you need more light. Spreading your canopy will give you a larger harvest vs a lower powered light that won't penetrate.
