Don't make the same mistake I made on lighting and 12/12 change

There is a question I have at the end of all this:

Well, it is a long azz story but I don't want anyone else to make this mistake. I have had several grows and all were successful including my first. I planted my crop that is grown inside with Spider Farmer LED lights and all plants were in 5 gallon fabric bags and doing quite well. I switched to 12/12 after 2 and a half months of veg. After 3 weeks or so buds started showing. A week later I tripped on my light cord that supplies power to all the lights. The lights went down. I plugged in the heavy cord again and picked up my timer. I saw that it kicked the switch on the side that is for "Constant on" and "Timer" mode. I switched it back to what I thought was timer mode. Well it WASN'T, it was on the constant on mode but I didn't realize it. A few weeks later I saw that my plants were turning brown on the tips and leaves falling off. I tried nutes and it helped a bit but really not much.

NOW fast forward to yesterday which is now 2 months after the mishap after I realized I fucked up the lights.
My autos did fantastically well but the buds never grew any more on the others, obviously because I had 24 hours a day light on them. Every night I would close the door and slide the curtains to give 100% light blocking from outside the door. Yesterday I figured it all out that I had fucked up my timer. They grew like crazy but all the leaves were damaged. One is at the 8' ceiling height. Non have turned into hermies. They are now starting to show hairs again. GEEZ, I screwed up!
My question is how long do you think it will be now to harvest. I have to leave in the 3rd week of August and it is now July 8th and I will not be home for a month. Have I pooched all the plants? I don't have anyone to sit with them and water them each day. I thought that maybe I would harvest the last day before I leave by cutting them down and hanging them upside down until I come home. Leave lights in 12/12 or just turn them off after harvest? Holy cow I had to invest all this time and see nothing in return!

That 'on all the time' mode will get you..

Or if it's digital and resets after power out.

2 months is a very long time to notice something isn't right.
I think the Autos may be the only thing to save...?

You're going to need minimum 8 weeks of 12/12. Depending on the strain, optimum could be 10 to 12 weeks 12/12. After harvest, turn lights off. If they hang for a month, they will be way too dry.

I noticed within a week something was wrong and I tried dimming the light, raising them up higher and nutes indifferent amounts. Nothing seemed to work. I just thought I defoliated too much and they were not responding well. I think I will have to just be happy with the autos. They did incredibly well

Probably a combo of lights on and nutes. Once I turned to 12/12 they all started new shoots that are perfect. The fact that they were in 12/12 for several weeks then back to 24 hour light has to be a contributing factor too don't you think?

I don't go in at dark period for anything. Worst I'll do is go in at the very starts of lights out if I want foliar feed and I keep the time under 30 minutes.

a little light here or there doesn't bug them. But if you don't want seeds in your weed it's safer to leave them be at dark.

Exactly my point, a little light doesn't bother them. After I water, I check them a few times once night rolls around to make sure my humidity is staying below 50%. My 9 watt desk lamp 8ft away isn't gonna do shit to my plants for the 5 secs it is on with my tent half unzipped. No seeds here and no accidentally leaving the lights on for hours at a time. OPs fear of looking at night lead to 2 months of not realizing the lights were on the whole damn time. Dumb.

Every grower I know makes a habit of being there at lights out snd lights on every time. I've been meaning to instal a camera for this purpose. But my trol master warns me if lights stay on.
Which has happened to me when there was a power outage. The quick off and on can sometimes contact weld the contacts on the relays. And leave the lights on.

That's totally unnecessary. You can easily have a remote humidity monitor that displays on the outside of the tent. My environmental controller displays on the outside of the tent. Silliness. Unnecessary risk.

That's just unrealistic for some of us. I got shit to do most days. The controller though is a good call...I've thought about the camera install but it just seems like too much...I have a t6 cloudline still in the box I bought a couple months ago... after this grow is over I may install it just for the humidity control/indicator but I seem to only be having humidity issues because I have more plants in there than I want and that won't be an issue next grow with fewer plants in smaller pots.

Really not an issue at all. It takes a serious light leak with enough light for the plants to actively use for photosynthesis to cause any kind of confusion for the plant. Thats why full moons don't bother plants, its not useable light.

I've ran a room for years that had a constant gap at the bottom of the door for air flow to control temps. It didn't allow any direct light to hit the plant since they were up on a flood tray, but the whole room had a slight glow during lights out from the light reflecting off the floor under the door. It was very comparable to a night with a full moon. I could easily see in my grow room once my eyes adjusted, but the plants never cared at all. They all grew just right, and never hermied or did anything else weird that you've been scared about.

It's simply an unnecessary risk. I don't care if it's .0005 whatever. For the cost of a remote humidity monitor, $15 on Amazon, you can completely eliminate the risk.

You just wanted to go enjoy the company of your plants and now you're rationalizing.

Exactly, we get very bright full moons. The plant won't go nuts if you go in with a low light for a little bit. If you make it bright, long or consistent, then oops
!
