Bread smell... too soon , too late , or something else all together

So ive seen other people have similar happen but not many answers as to what happened.. wondering if anyone out there is aware... FOR SURE ... as to what the cause is.
After a normal cure my Purple Train Wreck, usually wreaking of grapish fruity smells came off smelling like bread. One buddy told me I went a few days too long and another said it was because I didnt go long enough. Still smells great while cutting up and smoking (but not as strong). My cure was in jars and honestly ive cured plenty out to a crispy crunch that is all but perfect and this one is the same.. smells of bread though and came out same time as my Cataracts strain which was good all around. Any answers could help settle a bet .. lol. thanks

Nobody can tell you "for sure" esp without knowing details of the grow/dry and seeing pictures of the plant at harvest.

Harvesting too early & drying too quickly are two of the biggest causes. I highly doubt you let them go too long. There are very few strains that are truly finished in 8 weeks.

"curing" doesnt bring out the smells. It might seem that way because you have the bud in a jar which concentrates any aroma that might be present. So when you open it, it smells stronger than it had because the smell had no way to escape.

if your trying to cure and its not properly dry, be careful, i did that once and all i could smell was ammonia, it was rancid.

Hello 8 year old thread. Are there any more strains that smell like bread? I have a pack of nature farm cross from open pollenation and had significantly different smelling phenos but most common was a tennis ball smell. I was happy to get one different from that but it wound up giving a yeasty bread smell during cure. I though I noticed comments of strains that smells like bread but now I can't find them. what varieties smelled like bread or yeast y'all?

I would love a French loaf coming right from the oven smell
funny you say because I was hoping for butter scotch pheno but I got yeast. and what I'm saying is butter goes well on bread?
will be a while before smoke test. would be nice to know if there is a 'bread' terp or 'yeast' and what varieties. This is a Mazar I Sharif x something x skunk.

agree with you on forest or earthy. and i don't know what smells like hash either. but you would know this if you ever smelled yeast i.e. unbaked bread. i guess it actually could be actual yeast but i don't know how, it's indoor.
