Does anybody use a tower fan hung sideways?

I need a new fan and I was thinking about getting a tower fan instead of another wall mount and hang it sideways with rope ratchets.

I'm just wondering if anybody has tried this and if so, did it work well?

I've hung a box fan flat from the ceiling.

Here's the deal. You have a receipt from the tower fan. It's yours. You can hang it anyway you want.

I’ve bolted my tower fan to the ceiling upside down and works beautifully, so I’d imagine it may strain while oscillating but should work fine

My main concern was the motor being worked too hard while oscillating and possibly causing a fire. I have an automatic fire extinguisher in the tent but I still like to be extra careful

Ive noticed while upside down it actually works less, but yea with on the side like you want to it could over work it, but I doubt fire would start…it would just burn the motor out and then return it…then use normal or upside down, lesson learned :)

Yea I think the chances of a fire are pretty low but safety is my main concern. I guess I'll give it a shot since they're supposed to last longer than a standard 16 inch wall mount fan.

I don't think people generally put the tower fan in oscillate mode when they hang it horizontally. They just try and get a "straight" sheet of air over the canopy.

That makes sense. I imagine the fan would last longer that way too.

Right because the oscillating design has points that are only designed for the upright position

I use LEDs(COBS) on an open rack. The fan blows up. The cooler air is pulled from the floor area. Through a mesh plant shelf. Directed at the ceiling. To where it's pushed around mixing the entire environment atmosphere of the entire room. The air intake is near the floor. 8" Exhaust fan near the ceiling.

The key to circulation is no dead spots. Every inch of space gets air movement. The box fan is the main fan. I have a few clip ons and a couple of desk fans. Depending on growth stage determines what fan speeds and the amount of fans.

What you're trying to accomplish is a perfect synthetic environment.

Ive only used non oscillating clip ons but they don't move much air and I've only read bad things about the ones that oscillate.

I usually use a 16 inch wall mount but I'm downgrading from a 5x5 to 3x3 and that will be too big.
