If you need a lot you're better off contacting a local agi wholesaler and getting that way. Only issues is if they allow you to set up an account, its usally farms oir if you have a reselling business. Hydroton will be hard to get bulk as there's always shortage of it around and usally can only get from hydro wholesalers I've never know any other agri wholesaler that carried hydroton.

For coco look for places that make custom soils they'll probaly have coco but be prepared for gnats as they'll have the coco sitting outside while their flush it over time to remove the salts.

I think is a hit and miss depending on the batch. I've done tests years ago with Botanicare coco when it first took off here in 2006 ish and people complained about flies from dry bricks. I got a rubber maid bin, soaked and broke down the coco and then made a tent from clean plastic. Let it sit for a few weeks and saw no flies or larvae. There's a local place here called West Creek Farms and they make custom soils and they also make coco and flush it outside with sprinklers but also treat ti with BTI to kill the gnats but people have complained fungus gnats sometime go wild from their coco.

I think most gnats come from clones as 99% of growers buy their clones from someone else.

I make the drive to Brantford to Black Swallow Living Soils.

25 dollars for 2 feet of perlite. 50 pounders of rice hulls too, worm castings 16 bucks a foot (they weigh something like 40 pounds a foot).

2 feet is 14 gallons ? its a lot.

And then i grab a couple of feet of KIS soil (and top up my aloe/coconut powders)

Did you have plants in the coco, or just coco in pots in a tent? If no plants, that's probably why.

The fuckers definitely come in coco, brick or loose.
I just assume any coco has the bastards in it and treat it accordingly (haven't used coco in quite a while now though).

I have a small welding contracting company in the GTA. And I have a good line on some Aluminum that works great for heat sinks for LED builds. If anyone is looking for it I buy it in 120ft bundles that come in 12ft length. I can cut them down for you if needed. I always have extra in case I need to build something. I bet you the price is much better than metal super market. By far. I can also help you make your lights if you need help sizing drivers to strips etc.

a 4 Ft length of this section easily dissipates 108W.With only 2 degree rise over ambient very cool to touch. Will be testing with 150W shortly.




and then the smaller profile can take two strips. But I use this from my structural pieces.




Pretty much always have drivers, strips and aluminum on hand. I buy them in bulk off Digi-Key or Arrow just as you guys see in the arrow sale thread when guys update it. But I also have a contractor account with Digi-Key so I can usually negotiate an extra couple dollars off standard strip prices.

Also if anyone wants some drawings with dimensions you can use for builds I'll provide later. Below is a 600W design I am gonna test soon and make sure it's totaly good for heat etc.

Bluelab Combo Meters have been hovering around $200cad on amazon.ca for a while now. Anyone who needs a good meter. The pH probes alone are uaually $90-100.

I might start promoting HM as Bluelab is going up in price quite a bit. This is the second increase in about 2 years. I think last one the Guardian wet up like $40 wholesale. The PH and PPM pens alone are going up $20+ wholesale

I heard Hanna has made changes to their warranty and supposedly have better support now but they were pretty bad for anything warranty wise, hence why so many shops here totally stopped selling Hanna stuff.

I've been using HM meters and Blue lab meters. And honestly I like the HM better.

$200cad for a bluelab combo meter is dirt cheap. It's/used to be a $300+ meter from what I remember. Buying an individual bluelab ph and ec pen costs more than $200 and is much less convenient (I don't like pen styles).

Anyways, yea, don't think I've used Hanna before. Their new(er) combo meter might be good, I've heard some people use it.

I picked up a Guardian on amazon.ca for dirt cheap as well, quite a while ago.

I'd like to get an Atlas Scientific water monitoring setup. I might go that way next time I need water quality meter stuff.
