Cal mag nutes

I've added zero calmag to either tent in this grow. I did give Calcium nitrate and Epsom (MgSO4) along with Jack's 5-12-26 but only in veg. After flipping to flower I've added zero calmag, no added calcium, and only giving Jack's 5-12-26, which has no added calcium. I'm growing in soil in 7-gal pots. So the only calcium these are getting since flower is from tap water, that's it! Tap water has 112 mg calcium per gallon. That's quite a lot, I think, and obviously it's enough to grow healthy cannabis!

Well the actually amount of calcium is going to depend on your water source.

yeah you're right it does vary quite a bit by locale - this is a little old from 2006 but average across the US is 50 mg/L which is 190 mg/gal

I've never required calmag the 1st I heard of its popularity was here at RIU, like a tit I tried it and fkd up, so much for it being necessary with coco or soft water I've both, you don't get much softer than my tap water it's not even measurable with a ec truncheon.

The thing is there's so much bro science it's difficult to separate fact from fiction, afaik there are areas that require calmag, but I've only read that idk.

What I do know for certain is i've got soft water I'm using coco with led lighting and i don't require calmag.

As I said above I did buy some to try, I tested half strength (0.2ec) and the plant I tested it on looked like shit with the edges of the leafs discoloured, maybe it's the nutrient (canna) I use idk.

A certain red Nanometer, mainly blurple in flowering caused serious retardation beyond repair and the first sign was they went almost like glass brittle and just went full weird retard twisted like after that.

So which deficiency did you experience? Calcium or magnesium? CalMag isn't an element.

Red nanometer? I'm guessing you are talking about a certain wavelength that causes it? What specifically does the plant do in the presence of that wavelength to cause it to use more of that element?

Its calcium that was the problem, I never got a true answer on my research years back except that a certain red nm caused it and only during flowering it was an issue but the plant went brittle like glass and just snapped at touch

So it's completely possible that it was specific to that strain? Or did you test it with multiple strains?

Calcium in tap water is calcium carbonate, calcium in cal mag is calcium nitrate which is easier for the plant to use

It was a sour kush and an OG kush that I never used a calcium supplement with, doubt it was stain dependent as the advice back at that time with blurples was to use calcium supplemented or it fucks up plants but I didnt believe it thinking it was hype from calmag salesmen and it killed the two plants.

I use 1 mill per litre.
