Tricks of the trade; increasing THC content.

Marijuana THC

UVB radiation has been proven in studies since the early 80's to increase THC production - the link above explains why.
Bah, it seems the UV lights I have are 100 out from the peak frequency quoted on the page. Think it is worthwhile putting them on anyway? If not, eh well, they still have their use for making my contact juggling balls glow pale blue. Soo pretty.

what do you mean water curing?? Im havin a little trouble tryin to visualize what you mean.
You take bud, soak it in water for seven or more days, changing the water after every day. What this does is removes water-soluble parts of marijuana (big one being chloraphyll). As THC is not water-soluble, it will not be removed in this process. So once this shit has dried you may have lost about 15% of your weight to the bud or so, leaving the THC levels the same. But now you have a higher THC to volume ratio than before.

It's easy to picture if you think alcohol distillation, the less water you have the more alcohol/volume have. Well instead of removing water for the weed, you're removing water-soluble shit. I'm sure there are better write ups on this on the internet though. Hope this helps

Even itf it's 100nm from the PEAK you will still get a good exposure - the purpose of those trichromes is to protect the plant from UVB damage, and protect the seeds as well. This is just the plant's natural sunblock that we're smoking and getting fucked up off of.

Last 2 weeks before harvest just adjust your light cycle a bit give em 12.5:11.5 or 13:11. Saw it on a vid the guy said some strains can go up to 14 hours of light last 2 weeks of flower. Gives "kickin THC" and "Fantastic yields" as quoted by him lol. Think it was THC seeds movie. I'm gonna try it with this crop (long time before i can try they just sprouted yesterday lmao) Not gonna do much maybe 12.5:11.5

Let me know your results. I'm currently growing an auto flowering strain so I doubt it would make an awful lot of difference.

If you want the pot you smoke to get you higher and still resemble the kind act of smoking dank? Get better genetics and maybe skills (this is broad and not directed at anyone, I know I don't know enough). What are your expectations? There are a fat handfull of truly great strains out there. The rest are meh. Poor breeding and selection has resulted in many commercially available strains having less than desirable qualities. There are some bright bulbs who know their sh*t. Water curing takes beautiful nugs and turns them into soulless (IMO) drugs. Do you need to get higher per toke? Make hash. Even higher? Make selective solvent extraction. Still higher?! Isomerize the extracted cannibinoids. Jesus you wanna go still EVEN higher? Me too, make your extraction into an acetate and hold on. But each of these steps takes you further away from the experience of an age old tradition of getting closer to Shiva .

THC is 100% trichrome-based.

In simpler form - Trichromes are UV filters. The high-energy frequency of UV radiation converts precursor cannabinoids into THC.

15% genetics, 85% grower's effort and equipment.
I just found these with google: Sunglow Compact Fluorescent Coil Bulb UVB 23 Watt

Imagine putting 2 of those right nexto your main cola.....yumm

Isomerize the extracted cannibinoids.
Ahh, the joys of a weak acid solution to convert precursors. I haven't done that in ages, generally it's just too much of a pain in the ass.

Glad to know somebody else knows that it can be done, at least.

*Grumble* that bulb will be 110V, useless here in the UK. I'll have a look around for an equivalent. Having a CFL black light would probably be a ton more practical than trying to move the hefty 12V battery into the grow room (bloody integrated lights).

I guess I was still ambiguous with regards to what I was after. I was looking to methods to increase resin production whilst the plant is still living, not how prepare them afterwards to increase the THC/weight ratio. Guess I'll just have to invest in some beautiful genetics. Black domina looks very tempting, though as with any strain with an elevated price tag, I'm always wary of it being mostly (if not entirely) market hype.

Are you even paying attention to the thread? Using UV lighting is only done WHILE LIVING, it has no effect after you harvest.

And a blacklight won't work, you need REAL UVB tubes.

And they make 220-240v to 120-110v adapters, you know.

No no no, black domina is not hype. Sensi is very respectable. Just make sure you get true sensi seedstock. It is a heavy buzz though. My friends couldn't handle it most days when I had a couple ounces years ago. Perfect for pain/hunger/insomnia. It is something I hope to grow. Keep in mind resin is a fair indicator but not truly telling of potency. The second strongest I've ever had was somewhat lame in the resin department. Malawi X Indonesian and I thought I had been robbed when I got home. You couldn't see any stalks just that the bud was shiny and glistened. Man that was strong though. We kiefed it and the hash was so strong. Thc is just a portion of the total resin and excessive resin can lower the per toke intake amount of thc. If you are looking to increase resins for bag appeal or make copious amounts of hashish, I would suggest an appropriately resinated strain.

I was referring the the water curing/solvent extraction/isomerisation friend. Interesting but not what I had in mind. Transformers are horribly inefficient, I'm sure there must be some 230v ones on the market. I'll do a search soon. :)

Sounds good; the pictures look beautiful and the short flowering period also so. I'll have to turn a couple of them into mothers to justify splashing out on them. Thank you for putting me at ease. :)

Here's what I found out:

1. Water
Many studies have been carried out on the relationship of water and THC content and all seem to agree that when faced with low water supply and low humidity THC levels are increased.

2. Light
These [studies] showed that under conditions of high UV-B (280-315 nm) exposure, cannabis produces significantly greater quantities of THC.

3. Stress
I have also come across many tips about wounding your plant to increase THC. "Wounding" refers to maybe bending the stem a little or cutting it with a clean razor. I'm told anything above these wounds, will become stronger when it heals. "What doesnt kill you makes you stronger."
I dont know the exact numbers, but I know that those who do this, definitely see in increase in crytallized resin, stem and flower growth.

(+rep if I've helped anyone)

i heard manicuring the fan leaves help. something about cutting the tips makes the plant produce resin as a defense against bugs or something... that could be another form of stressing it

First off
People who post on here trying to get rep is posting on here for the wrong reason this is not a popularity contest. This is a marijuana cultivation forum where ppl help each other and ask for help. Its a plethora of knowledge for anyone willing to further educate themselves into what we do. So dont make threads or posts asking for rep ur not gonna get it just get pl that have to say this stuff to you..

Second
Dont necropost a thread thats been dead since 2008 posting info that ppl have already previously said in the same exact thread. You didn't help anybody here just made me waste my time typing this....:finger:

And if you didn't know they were said in previous posts, then next time read the thread before posting in it.
