Hey Roll it Up,
I have a question about the 2 different ways to take clones that I am trying to decide between. I am doing a perpetual harvest of 2 strains. I am allowing 2 weeks for clones to root then transplant into 5gallon fabric pot and veg for 6 weeks before 8 week flower.
I think it will be easier if I give a brief description of what I’m trying to do here.
So let’s say 6 plants of (to make it easy) indica
And 6 plants of sativa will be growing in my veg room and 6 of each in the flower room at all times, take some for harvest, replace flower room with veg plants, replace veg plants with clones and so forth. I want to take 2 clones from each plant before flower and only keep the strongest half. (This will keep me under my plant limit for my licence which is 25 plants) I will have too many when I clone but I want to take extra to make sure I have enough. The strongest 6 of each will be kept to grow so as to stay at 24 plants after I throw the others out. So take 12 cuttings on indica (2 from each plant) and 12 of sativa (2 from each plant) Keep the 6 strongest of each to stay within my plant limit. So I have a few questions here and wanted to see if someone has tried these ways with good results(obv someone has just trying to find who! )
I wanted to know if it was better or easier to either
(No mother scenario)
A: take clones from my veg plants before flower and have no mother plant
-how long would I need to veg my plants for in order to take 2 clones from each plant and still send them in to a successful flower?
- will my veg plant be ok to take clones the day they go to flower?
-Or will they need 1 or 2 weeks to recover from taking 2 cuttings?
mother plant option
So I have the option to have a mother plant and take clones from her as that will bring me to 25 plants with a mother . I have had bad times trying to keep a mother alive and wanted to try and avoid this option as I would rather not have to sustain a mother constantly with doing this style of growing which will keep me busy enough without feeding a mother plant on top of it. If taking clones from too young of a veg plant is a bad idea then I might have to take from a mother??
please let me know what you all think!
all input (be it positive) is appreciated
thanks
