Not sure if starting LST correctly

Edit: I tucked the new shoots into the clips too.

I topped and started training. Ive topped before but never trained.

I think Ive got the clips bending the wrong stems?

I have plastic clips and will also be using twine. I tied some twine with loops around the pot as an achor point instead of drilling holes.

All you've done here is bend down a couple fan leaves. Never used those clips, but I'm pretty sure they need to be placed on the next set of branches forming above the topped section.

Thats what I was thinking. Those were just fans. Im using them still but as anchors for the clips and tucked the main shoots into them too. Ill tie them once they're a little longer..

Lol. Bend the main stem over. Not the leaves. You want the main stem growing to the side...not up. That way all the side branches are the same height as the main stem.

You want all the buds to get the same light intensity as much as possible.

Oh and you topped it?

Let it grow a little more next time before topping.

Plants kinda grow exponentially. The more surface area on the leaves the faster they grow.

Top after it has 4 or 5 nodes.

You only left 1 node.

It has 3 nodes above dirt. I clipped off the 4th. I had read somewhere to let it grow 4-5 nodes then clip down to the 3rd. The last plant I topped was about this height and it did fine.

Oh hard to see from the pics. Guess it ain't so bad then. You don't need to lst at this point if you topped it. Just let the sides grow out and keep them growing horizontal.
