Actually, it would be cool to try and save this, cut that baby way WAY back to about 4-6 main branches, take clones off of what you cut and then mainline the 4-6 branches into nice fat juicy buds.
in 30 days you'll have a nice batch of clones to put into flower, in 60 days you will have buds from the main lines, and then another 30 days after that your clones are ready for harvest.

There is a way around that, but, it's VERY dramatic, it would take another 2 months for the plant to recover from sawing the rootball around the edges and then repotting, because the rootball doesn't have to support all the growth that you just cut off, it only has to support the 4-6 mainlines.
The worst that happens is you kill the damn plant, but, what you started with wasn't any good anyway so... nothing lost nothing gained if shit hits the fan.
I think it's in Greg Green's book or in Jorge Cervantes that they talk about painting the inside of the pot with copper sulfate(I think, can't recall), when the roots come into contact with it, it kills the roots at the site but doesn't leach into the soil entirely and kill the plant.
I never tried it, and always thought it's just easier to repot. hehehehe
(Ohhh and if you decide to cut the root ball, you only want to cut a little more than a 3rd of it off... cutting more than that will shock the hell out of it if not just out right kill it. Shocking the hell out of it, it will look dead for weeks on end and chances are, it probably is but then give it another week and then suddenly you'll see new growth.
It's cause the roots are growing back and the plant puts all of it's focus into that. Think of it as a big giant clone.....
