Should I be concerned?

3 different plants all randomly show brown/gray spots, more like stripes, on the base of leaves in bud sites. I say brown/gray to the naked eye, but almost looks purple in the pics. Is this a fungus or a natural occurrence? I removed the first two bud sites when I found them, but I'm starting to wonder if I should be. I can't find any images that look similar. Strain is Bergman's Gold Leaf.

No they are well above the soil. It's been happening since a couple weeks after putting them outside. Middle of May. I can count on both hands how many spots like this there are though.

Ok, is there morning dew or something in the mornings in your area?

They just look like they have been water burned by the sun is why I ask.

Yeah I'm in NY and it's been a wet year so far.
Don't I know it... Every other day.... sometimes twice on thursdays fridays saturdays sundays mondays tuesdays and wednesdays! hehehe

Young plants will sometimes burn a little at the tips if they're not "hardened" off before you put them in direct sun light. The problem can be compounded when we have very wet morning conditions and then the sun pops out full force and the Dew drops or rain drops act as a magnifying glass on the young plant material.

Thanks for your time. I'm just going to let it ride and keep an eye on it for now then.

May not be a deficiency may just be the strain reaction to the cold night time temps couldn't give you a definite answer endless I knew your hole regimen soil additives etc does it go away as the leafs form?

I'm going to observe them and see if it continues. I cut off the first two I saw in May as soon as I spotted them.

I would guess it's a fungus but most of the fungus I fight usually presents itself on older leaves and not new growth. Good luck.
