This was here last july. It came within 100yrds of my property.
4 fires within 1.5 weeks right by me. Calfire was on it.

and then the great lightning complex of 2020 happened soon after. Cal-fire was spread way too thin.Fact.

Blue skies! It's only been a day and I really miss it.

That "spread too thin" part is only going to get worse. I just mean that, there's no way a grass fire is going to burn down that stucco house. We have decent clearing on three sides, but one side isn't great, plus we have wood decks front and back. Ours is as good as gone if anything comes through here.

I try jump on these when I can. Conservatism is fine, but they're virtually nonexistent. Modern republicans are a cancer.

I hear you and I definitely don't mean to discount your experience. Just thinking practically, especially if you were prepared, you could easily backburn all that dead grass around you so it doesn't even come close to the house.

I hear you and I definitely don't mean to discount your experience. Just thinking practically, especially if you were prepared, you could easily backburn all that dead grass around you so it doesn't even come close to the house.

I didn’t take it that way. All good.
But yeah, i keep a defensible space i should be alright here. Knock knock. My plans are to have 4-2500gal tanks at the corners of my 10 acres, not for growing my outdoor, but to be able to hook to and spray the mother fucker down when fire is near.
Not there yet. Been way to busy lately.

Oh shit i forgot to mention.
My then pregnant daughter was in a trailer on my property at the time because the Cave fire got em in Santa Barbara right before. Didn’t exactly get her but it burned down their landlords house and they needed the rental back
We were all cheering like you don’t even know when they were dropping retardant. Had 3 of the big tankers make a pass. And that’s what i’m talking about. If they had more shit ready to fight a bunch of fires it would help. Because the lightning complex will happen more often now

I bought this property december right after learning my house burned down. 3 large dogs. One lab two french mastiffs. I could not find a rental to save my life. I spent the first month down in Lodi at my buddy’s house. Bought the 5th wheel and parked it at a pretty bad ass rv park. Couldn’t bring it out to my property until april because of course when it finally started to rain it didn’t stop.
In February, at the trailer park i woke up next to my girl Bella, one of the french mastiffs, dead. I wanted to kill myself at that point.

but you know what. Allot of other people had/have it allot worse than me around here. My new saying when people ask how i’m dealing with it all is “it could always be worse” and i was straight up stuck with fire all around me. We all have some fucked up stories around here
