When does sexing happen for the plants here in southern AZ? I want to plant more but will also be gone for a week this summer and don't want to miss the chance to pull any of the males before they ruin the rest of the crop! ...though they would be of Ethos genetics, so wouldn't be the worst and I'd have some new interesting seed genetics! LOL

My home state averages 40+ inches of annual precipitation whereas Arizona is under 10 inches, and then of course there's the complete lack of nutrients in the soil here plus the crazy heat, long sunlight hours, etc.

In past years, my biggest issues have been things like mold or early frosts. I feel as though I'm unlikely to deal with those here in Arizona, but I've never grown somewhere where temps regularly hit 80+ degrees, let alone 100+.

I've searched the forums and can't find much about growing here so thought I'd start my own thread. Please drop a reply if you'd be open to sharing your experiences and fielding some questions from me, or if you can link me to a grow journal or two from Arizona that would be amazing as well.

Hi, i live in oklahoma, not Arizona, but we do get a lot of hot sun here. something you might want to look into is things like a large cheese cloth blanket to use as a tent over some of your plants when the sun is super hot. that will keep your plants from wilting in the extreme heat. for the soil, what i would do is get some Fox farm frog potting soil and coco core and mix a few bags of it in to the native soil you are planting in. that would help to retain water and nutrients in to the soil... just some ideas. :-)

Such a good idea in fact I've been doing that for a month now! Been working great here in AZ!!

Hey would anyone be interested in starting a local AZ club here for support & comradery? RIU is great but you don't get the same support as you do in a club with people you know or meet. I figure we could meet up locally by city once per month and discuss whatever is needed from problems in our grows to new products or helping each other out if one of us goes on vacation! I love connecting with everyone on here but I would also love a local chapter that is focused on specific needs of that group & area!

Whatcha guys think? Would anyone be interested?

Well I'm certainly open to meeting anyone, helping out with a grow if I can, showing my grow if anyone wants to see how I have my set up, or help out if someone goes on vacation etc! Let's face it,, if you don't grow then your plants aren't in the best hands while you're away! Just an extension of the online platform to connect with people who can help out locally and lookout for eachother as we do here! I live in Tucson so I'd like to stay in town but can travel up to Phoenix given enough warning!

DM me if you're interested and have friends or know people that also grow locally to build out more local support!

Hoping to harvest these babies this weekend! Just watching the flower trichs but it's looking good to go soon!

I'm interested. Quick question tho, if I leave them in the plant pots outside would it be as successful as if to being planted in the soil?

You have some other things to consider when potted planting. Roots will need enough room to expand when needed so the pot needs to be large enough. Potted plants also can be more susceptible to heat stress if the pot holds heat! The pot heats up the medium, dries out etc. Plants don't know if they're in a pot if you can avoid these issues.

Nice Alctrz8849! Yours look several weeks ahead of mine for flowers. When this is all harvested and put away this fall I'm gonna try one in a pot. Leave it under a little grow light inside a d take out during the day. Let it get 2 or three feet tall and then leave it outside to flower. Just kind of a experiment to see how it will do.
