Defoliating just for extra yield isn't going to wow you, and IMO, like all things in this hobby there are so many variables. You might end up fucking your shit up if you dont know what your doing. It's very strain dependent from my experience. With that said, some strains you might see a marginal improvement, some none at all and other you might do more harm than good.
I pack in anywhere from 9-16 plants per light. I still defoliate but not for yield, I do it for airflow and like getting my hands on every plant from time to time to scout for bugs or any issues that might arise. So yeah, still defoliating, but getting a better yield has nothing to do with it.
I prune the hell out of my plants too, but don't confuse that with defoliating... two very different things.
