feminized pollen from autos

What schedule or indicator is used to start spraying STS or CS on auto females to coax them into producing pollen? Start spraying buds at week 5? First sign of apical buds? What has been reliable?

I started sts application very first sign of flower. I only flip a branch though. Only done it twice so far. I have cut and rooted an auto, just to see if it could be done. Yes it can, but the resulting plant it's not a new plant, so she is still on the auto flower time schedule. But cut early enough and I don't see why you can't flip the cutting also.

Edit: actually I have one auto that was a freebie that I may try on her first branches. Flip one for best success chances and cut and flip the second for testing.

Well damn. I'm going to have to reverse an auto just for the hell of it. I have more auto seeds than I thought. I think I'll grow 2 and reverse one and pollinate the other. I might as well make a batch of auto seeds. I've been thinking about it for awhile.

My plan is to start spraying before any signs of flower. Probably week 4 before any pistils form. When it starts flowering I want to see all balls.

I'm only going to do it to have seeds to give to a few friends. One buddy grew a couple auto seeds I gave him and he was very happy to get a harvest in the middle of the summer and has requested more. So I'll make some.

You guys are close to being on the same track. I've never grown an auto, so don't know what to expect as far as when flowering initiates or how long they actually go, but I was concerned that if I waited until I see apical pistils, then development of female morphology has already begun and it would be harder for it to switch to male. Like @xtsho mentioned, start spraying at week 4, before flowering initiates, then hit them every 5 days until pollen sacs appear might be the golden path.

Like you, Jay, I'm primarily interested in producing auto-fem seeds for a friend. He recently moved to the coast so autos are probably the only answer to outdoor growing when the season is <90 days.

You really do need to get spraying before flowering starts. Once it starts to show female it's already started to grow as female. Plants can still be reversed even a couple weeks into flowering but the results are not as good. The amount of viable pollen produced will usually not be as prolific and you can end up with plants shooting bananas instead of plants that look male.

The reasons for most reversal failures may be due to these causes:
  1. They used CS they bought online
  2. They started spraying too late
  3. They used a surfactant
  4. They didn't spray until it was dripping off the leaves
Too many possible factors to list.

If not I know a site that's cool with it and I would love some of those. I have a small variety to trade.
