They brought no guns. But they used innocent items as weapons. A flag, how can a flag be used as a weapon? Maybe the pole that it is on? Sure was enough bear spray and mace used bu the tourists. Stun guns, pepper spray, baseball bats, pipes, flagpoles, batons, hockey stick (was that the Canadian?), wearing helmets and body-armor as if knowing that trouble might be had.

And if you can effect your outcome without killing people, well all the better. All they wanted to do is change the count so Trump remained president. They did not try to overthrow the government and sit in the seats themselves. they just did not like the other guy winning. So they tried to prevent that from happening. To give Mike Pence some spine to keep the presidency Republican. It was a coup because the people did not want the peaceful transfer of power to take place.

Gee lot's of them were armed and they had a heavily armed force nearby on standby. Their problem was they were idiots who had no real plan, just vague ideas, but were incited to it by Trump and others. Many still carried out acts in furtherance of a conspiracy and that will put them away, but for not long enough.

There's tons of videos, data and tips, morons will be going to jail over this for years to come. Many did just stand outside and look stupid, many of those will be charged with trespassing and other federal crimes too. The feds have years to bring charges and many patriots are fingering these idiots every day.

Since you are obviously quite the legal wordsmith, perhaps you may want to explain how killing a cop, badly injuring others, and battering the barricades and their keepers with flagpoles, bike racks etc. constitutes simple trespass.

I think you need to review the legal definition.

What was done totally fits, but there's a softer approach being taken due to the potential for civil war.

The policeman died after the event at home. Not in capitol.
