My bigger plants always take a lot more time to finish, Starting to see some trichomes and some of the more potent strains got some nose to them. Had a little clogging with the xylem this season. Nothing major but common with larger plants especially if you supercrop at all or any branches get broken. Any sign of lower branches stressing the plant compartmentalizes the arm and drops it.
Hemp aphids are on selected plants but they are common And you just have to wash them off.
Minimal mites this season, few broads and hemp russets but nothing that was even concerning.
Will start spraying spinosad for caterpillars and worms in a few days.
Some Lemon crosses that smell like lemon pinesol
Banana crosses most smell like pure OG with a hint of artificial banana
blue dream crosses that smell great
vanilla and cheese notes in there.
People hate on BD. But well done organic dream is usually decent.
Some midzotics strains Should be very gassy with some ranging towards sweeter
Think trop cookies smells some ranging towards burnt rubber /chem smells. All these are hype strains but come from good breeders.
Overall I really like the Lemon terpenes. Breeders have come a long way from the greasy/soapy feel the earlier lemon strains based of lemon G had.
I’m guessing a few strains will hit 30% THC, more to do with good breeders than my growing but % doesn't tell the whole story. Some of my fav strains hit 12-15% but have a great stone.
Days are cooling off a little now, well it’s currently a heat wave, but with some cooler nights the purples and lavenders will start to come through on the midzotics. Oh yeah a few have pink pistils .. always cool looking recessive gene.
Hope y’all are doing good post some pics of some hogs
Thanks for the update. Post some pics when you get a minute. Glad things are going well and the fires are steering clear of you.
Totally agree about the limonene terps--I grew a couple Chinook Haze and a Copper Chem last year and the fragrance is just out of this world (especially starting about this time last year, but even now cured in jars they smell divine).
Also agree about the THC percentage. Most breeders seem to assume that more is better but I'm not so sure of that--there's a lot more to great weed than just high THC. I suppose you could use the analogy of alcohol--if drinking was just about obtaining the maximum possible strength then we'd all be guzzling Everclear (yuck!). Give me a nice hoppy IPA or a delicate Pinot Noir any day.
Nights are starting to dip into the 50s here in Maine now, less humidity, although the days are still pretty warm. Love that golden softness that autumn sunlight has too.
Some of mine are flowering nicely while a few seem to be stragglers--variation even among identical strains interestingly. The whole thing of flowering is a bit of a mystery to me, I guess that's part of the magic.
Quick pics from yesterday:
Chinook Haze starting to fade a little down below:
Trichomes just became noticeable this week--well ahead of where my CH's were last year at this time:
Little bit of stack happening in Miss Chinook--should start filling in quickly in the next couple weeks:
Cherry Wine drinking up the warm afternoon sun. This one topped out at 7 feet:
Cherry Wine flowers coming along. Can't wait for that heavy fragrance to waft into the house (any week now--last year odor peaked at the end of September):
