So I recently purchased a Phototron 3000sx and am currently on day 5 and I'm struggling with the temperature getting to hot and could really use some advice on tips and tricks for growing hydroponic in sphagnum moss

If you can still return your phototron, do so. Then buy a grow tent and a good light designed to cover the area in the tent, HPS, CMH, quality LED (pricey). Ventilation fan and carbon filter if you want to control odor. Then you will be able to really start growing. Avoid a short tent, tall is better because your light, space between light and plants, pot height all use space and you want some left for a plant or two lol.

We would be happy to help you spec your setup if you go this route. I highly doubt you will find much support for a phototron here though, they are pure junk.

Why is everybody so down on the Phototron? I have one, and the first/last time I used it, it worked awesome and I got about a lb. out of a couple plants. I had to shut it down early because it smelled the house up so bad. I loved the smell, but just couldn't have it. This week I built a little grow room in my garage, and am resurrecting the old Phototron. With the automatic feed system, I pretty much don't have to do anything after transplanting the seedlings. Just check the nutrients once in a while.

How did you get a pound out of a small glass box lol
I grew some weed in it, just like I said. It's over 4' tall, and there's no glass anywhere. You follow the directions EXACTLY how they say, and marijuana grows in it. It has a sensor for the automatic feeding system, and a 5 gal. jug of nutrients so there's basically nothing to do. Of course that's after I've germinated and transferred to the sphagnum moss. What the fuck are you talking about?!? LOL

It wasnt designed to work. It was designed to sell.

Oh. Oh well. Works fine for me. Thanks for the reply; you got me chuckling to myself. I actually bought the "Flying Lure" once a hundred years ago, (remember those?) and caught a fish.....:bigjoint:

I mean seriously if yours is working, good on you.

I remember some sort of bat winged fish bewitcher sold out of TV Guide. Said it made a sound that fish could not resist.

Oh yeah- I just finished my grow room today, got the Phototron moved in, got the auto feeding system setup, etc. Just waiting for my seeds to sprout. That might have been the fishing lure I bought.
