Sealing up attached garage; suggestions/insight please

Hey all,

As the title suggests I have an 11' x 20' attached garage(4th car garage). It is a single car obviously, also has a 4' x 4' window. I currently have a portable AC unit that is hooked up to the window, but I am going to be cutting a 6" dia. hole for an actual wall mounted exhaust vent. That portion is already figured and handled. However, I need some help and general understanding to make sure I have proper air exchange.

I will be completely insulating the garage door, as well as the window. The garage door, will be basically a wall when I am done, won't be opened ever, except for very rare and extreme circumstances. But I am sealing the entire perimeter with gasketing material I use at my place of work for the same purpose. So my air exchange will be affected I believe.

Will I have to add two (maybe only one?) more passive air vents in my garage to ensure everything gets the proper amount of airflow? Cause I don't know where the air would be coming from once I seal the garage door. I also was also considering a two vent holed window insert, they make them as well, and maybe I could just use the exhaust on the bottom hole and the intake air for the entire garage on the upper hole?

tl;dr - Will sealing my entire garage up require passive wall vents to be installed to allow for proper airflow? Or maybe even an upgraded dual vent window insert?

Good info any grower can benefit from...

Are you planning for separate veg and flower ?

I used this in my garage rather than tents.

What are you trying to do? You won't have a sealed grow room if you put in passive vents that allow outside air in.

I am looking to mainly climatize my garage space and have my grow tents draw the air through the ventilation setup I have. :)

That is a super cool looking grow space, bet it's insulation is pretty amazing too!

Should work great.

The sheets I'm using. Actually not very good insulation, but much better than a tent for my needs. The flower room is against the garage side acces door. Window shaker AC installed in the door.

Well that is just it, I am not too savvy on grow room setup when it comes to air exchange. Would it not need vents then, only a Co2 enrichment machine?

EDIT: To further clarify; I am currently in an open loop grow tent setup. I have an AC unit cooling the entire garage space the tent is in, as I am in AZ I need to keep temps down in the garage. But what I am not sure of is needing additional wall vents to help the air exchange in the garage, the grow tent is in, when I seal the entire door off 100%.

Most growers always setup with the ability to vent. Per tent, usually via exhaust fan - passive air intake.

The Co2 link above has some info on venting pros and cons....when to vent if at all and why.

I'm no expert either. But if you want a sealed room why would you seal it up and then put in vents to the outside. A sealed room is what many use to control all aspects of the environment. If you don't seal it completely then it's not a sealed room.

That's why I asked what you're trying to do. If you want to run a sealed room there are others that know much more than I do.

There is nothing wrong with what you said you were doing but it won't be a sealed room. You'll just be using passive air intake and providing yourself with the ability to filter the air.
