Hi
I'm looking for the quietest inline fan possible.
Does anyone know out of the AC infinity line and the SandP fans which is the quiter fan ?
thanks

I have a S@p tdsilent inline fan. Its pretty quiet.
Doesnt come with the controller that ac infinity does though, so speed control and temp/humidity would have to be added on.
It has 2 settings though,
Right?
Can you compare the noise level of both?

I just got a 4" in line and it's rated at 30db. I can barely hear it in the bed room at night but then I've lost a lot of hearing over the years. The 2 small 4" fans inside the tent make more noise.

S&P TD silent is the quiest most capable of driving lengths of ducting fan I've had, they're almost twice the price for a reason.

AC infinity FTW!!!! Super quiet, likable, 10 programmable settings and comes with the digital thermal / hygrometer for easy environmental readings

Are you taking about the ác Infinity or SandP?

Neither it was 4" off Amazon. Replaced a 4" iPower brand inline 33 cfm. The new one only runs a couple hours a day whereas the old one ran almost continuously. This is in a 3x3x5 grow tent with 6" 90 inlet, 4" 90 on the outlet.

I have the 4" AC infinity and I'm very happy with it. I used to have a 6" fan that was 420 cfm and it was very noisy, the brand was stealth and there was nothing stealth about it lol. Good quality fan though. I now know that this 4" infinity is all I need for my 4x4 tent, and I only use it on speed 5 out of 10. The probe that comes with the AC fan is also extremely convenient, I used to use a little digital thermometer/humidity in the tent but I feel like this probe is far more accurate.
Never used the SandP but I have nothing but great things to say about the AC.

Worth mentioning, I don't use a carbon filter so I'm easily able to get away with only speed 5. Perhaps you would need a higher speed if pulling air through the filter, but I don't know.

There's not 2 settings on the TD it requires a variac or a plug in dimmer, a variac gives you silent 0-100% power a plug in dimmer makes the coils buzz lf at lower speeds.
I stripped the dimmer off the old vivosun it was replacing. Works great and way quieter than what it was replacing.

Lol :) I have a 6x18" carbon filter hanging at the top of my 2x2.5" gorilla tent, with a 6" s&p tdsilent 150s screwed to my basement wall....
No smell, and very quiet though

I hadn't looked into those S&P fans until just now. Nice looking fan. Same body as the infinity, makes one wonder if they come from the same factory lol.
I live very rural, no need for carbon filter  :bigjoint:

Happy growing!

I think most tests end up measuring the sound of the exhaust as opposed to the whine or rumble from the fan itself. My experience with 6" and 8" AC Infinity is that at anything above speed 5 has a lot of whining (not wind) noise from the fan. SO I use the bigger fan and run it at speed 3, sometimes speed 2 depending on environment, much quieter. If I ever buy another it will be the biggest one I can and run at low speed. I read beforehand about this but I cheaped out anyway. Soler & Palau are very expensive where I am, around US$400 for the TD150.

I actually ended up putting my remote-mounted 6" AC Infinity inside an old 10" silencer to lessen the noise, another silence directly on the fan and splitting the intake to two carbon filters because the sound was travelling out of the filter. It worked but I think a silencer attached directly to the filter works better for mitigating travelling noise.

It's all relevant though depending on how stealth you need to be. Stealth requirements for audible comfort/privacy is different to stealth for legal reasons...

could you run a 3 by 3 tent with a carbon filter with the 6" without going above 5?
so have it arranged <--ducting ->Inline fan-------> silencer<---->carbon filter

so the silencer helps alot?
I also take it acoustic ducting helps a lot aswell?

I've had both the td is a quieter a fan but it's more the lack of rumble than the actual whoosh noise, I use a speed controller to slow the fan down so any rumble is well noticeable, the TD is a top notch fan imo.
surprised to hear the TD is more silent than ac infinty most people say the ac infinity is the quietest fan available but they have not used both.
