Week 4 of flower

Hey all,

First official grow. Its been about 26 days since the flip to 12/12, so not technically the 4th week just yet but basically there. Its been a while since I reached out for advice, everything is going great. I noticed a good bit of yellowing and coloration of some fan leaves, I know they yellow and drop off through flower, but because I'm still new, I am not sure what weeks that usually starts. Ive been doing feed-water-feed cycle. Is this normal yellowing or nute deficiency? Im really proud of how this first batch is coming so far. Thanks!

Lights: 2 Mars Hydro TS1000
Temp: 74-78 lights on, 70-74 lights off
Rh: 48-55%
Nutrients: 2 tsp per gallon Fox Farm Tiger Bloom, 1 tsp per gallon Fox Farm Bush Doctor (cal-mag)

I'd say you have an N deficiency. Don't mess around or you'll lose control of it and chase it the rest of the grow. Personally I'd top dress with about 3 - 4 TBL spoons of 4-4-4 to 6-6-6 or something close and put a 1/2 cup to a full cup of worm castings up there as well. a note of ferts look to see if a portion of the N is water soluble. Water soluble is nearly instantly usable by the plant.

The yellowing lower fans is indicative of the (N) (which is mobile) moving to the top for new growth because it ran out in the soil. When you top dress it wouldn't hurt to mulch in some way. keeping the top moist will allow the micro biology and feeder roots full and comfortable access to the new food source. This could be chopped straw, leaves, wood chips or even a black plastic trash bag though with the bag don't forget that it has to breath so not air tight.

If I'm running in smaller pots say 3-5 gal, 3rd or 4th week is when I see this happening. On a 9 week plant I'd start top dressing on week 2 of flower knowing in a week or 2 shes going to start running out if I don't. I would keep top dressing right through the 6th week then let her eat herself the rest of the way but all the while keeping an eye on weather I need more or less top dress. Right now your girls are geared up for war-time production and they burn a lot of N.

It's also a pretty common practice to use higher N veg ferts through say week 4 then switch to something for flowering. The girls eat a ton of N during the stretch which is why they start looking deficient about week 3 or 4 when a plant doubles in size in a week or two that take a lot of everything especially N

edit: I wanted to add for clarity that top dressing is a weekly thing not once and done. also wanted to say that Jobe spikes are organic and you just push them down into the soil. They do work pretty well and are sold in veg and fruiting formulas. I know others have mentioned using them too so do a little google and see what others do for dosage if you go that route.

Appreciate the good info my man! I was giving an additional N earlier in flower but I noticed some Nitrogen Toxicity and clawing so I phased it out and thought the N from the Tiger Bloom (2-8-4) would be enough as I moved more into flower after the stretch. Ill reintroduce some more N and post and update with any changes! Also nice video, ive looked up a decent amount of videos on youtube but they can be so hit or miss and I have seen some pretty misleading and bad tips on there, so I try to shy away, and come here for more advice or look up posts with similar issues.

So i added some extra N yesterday with the feeding, and this morning the yellowing only continued up the plant. After further examination it looks like it might be a mag deficiency as the veins are still dark green but its yellowing in between. This is weird because I have been supplementing cal-mag since I started giving nutes (its in FFOF so few weeks into veg was its first feed). I have seen that mag can get locked out of roots because of PH and I have been PHing all my feeding, but I have never tested the soil. I have looked into foliar sprays but honestly have no clue what im looking at, or if its even good to spray in flower. Any additional recommendations would be appreciated!

Just give them some time to catch up to the feed....you're chasing a deficiency and being behind sucks. Just don't do anything drastic. They look pretty good overall though...are you using fox farms soil as well? You could always topdress with a few cups of ocean forest, and some ewc in each pot as well.

Dank always with the solid advice. Yea I realized after making the follow up post, I might be jumping the gun and need to be patient lol. I just saw that nitrogen deficiency can really derail a grow so I wanted to move quick. Need to just let the plants react to the feed and try not being so overbearing. And yea I am using FFOF so I will try topdressing. What is EWC?

I just saw that nitrogen deficiency can really derail a grow so I wanted to move quick. Need to just let the plants react to the feed and try not being so overbearing. Earth Worm Castings. I started my indoor grow with the FF trio and it got out of hand quickly. After a few weeks I switched to dry amendments .
