i wish we could look back in some magic machine that would let you see different realities play out...australia and south east asia would be under japanese control right now, most of europe and south america would be controlled by nazis, russia would have taken a huge chunk of india and china both as they expanded after the war...and America would still be here, trading with Canada, who would still be free because we kept them that way...
I dont think Australia would be under Japanese control. At some point Australia would of recalled its Army and asked for assistance from the Commonwealth. Not sure if Japan even had the capacity to invade Australia from the North in the 40's. Not sure if you have been there but Its a hostile environment that is fairly easy to defend.

Germany sealed its fate when it had to invade Russia to feed itself. That was the moment they lost the second world war.

Japan never would have entered the war if America had not of had the trade war. https://www.independent.org/news/article.asp?id=1930

One might argue that the cold war wouldn't of existed if America didnt come into the war and all these wars they have started since would not of happened either. Its all if's, butts and maybe's. If Britain didnt set up the huge war manufacturing in America then America would not of become the global manufacturing powerhouse after the war.

But all that doesnt make my prev statement less true in any case.

Cops are fully unleashed again...

Reform is not going to come through the courts. We have to do it at the local level.

I will say that it's pretty scary when the Portland police union decided to tell its members to let Proud Boys rampage in the streets as punishment for our city taking measures against police brutality. The way fascists inside police departments are coordinating with outside fascists to terrorize neighborhoods is nearly a perfect duplication of what happened in the early days of fascist Italy.

We still hold the power at the ballot box. I don't think the fascists on police forces respect that power. We'll see.

life seldom turns out the way one expects, even if you plan it..what we have to do is live in the present, something many find difficult..aye, plan for the future yet knowing that the present may be all we ever have.

I didnt say that. Not even close. Not sure why you even insinuated i did...Did you even read the article?

"Don’t bother to ask the typical American what U.S. economic warfare had to do with provoking the Japanese to mount their attack, because he won’t know. Indeed, he will have no idea what you are talking about. "

"Accordingly, the Roosevelt administration, while curtly dismissing Japanese diplomatic overtures to harmonize relations, imposed a series of increasingly stringent economic sanctions on Japan. In 1939 the United States terminated the 1911 commercial treaty with Japan. “On July 2, 1940, Roosevelt signed the Export Control Act, authorizing the President to license or prohibit the export of essential defense materials.” Under this authority, “[o]n July 31, exports of aviation motor fuels and lubricants and No. 1 heavy melting iron and steel scrap were restricted.” Next, in a move aimed at Japan, Roosevelt slapped an embargo, effective October 16, “on all exports of scrap iron and steel to destinations other than Britain and the nations of the Western Hemisphere.” Finally, on July 26, 1941, Roosevelt “froze Japanese assets in the United States, thus bringing commercial relations between the nations to an effective end. One week later Roosevelt embargoed the export of such grades of oil as still were in commercial flow to Japan.”[2] The British and the Dutch followed suit, embargoing exports to Japan from their colonies in southeast Asia. “The constant refrain we hear from cops every time they kill an unarmed Black person is, ‘They should have complied with commands,’ because as long as you comply, things will supposedly go well, but that only seems to work one way. When officers are asked to follow simple rules or face consequences, a not insignificant amount of them flip their s***.”

“If an officer wants to quit over this, f***ing let them,”

Last night on John Oliver.

Bravo.
